When adults who interact with children increase their awareness of child sexual abuse, they form a shield that protects children. That shield is a network of adults alert to potentially abusive situations and children with the confidence to speak up.

Every adult in the Catholic Diocese of Dodge City has an opportunity to attend a forum designed to prevent the abuse of children. The Protecting God's Children Awareness Sessions are enhanced by a series of videotaped statements from abuse perpetrators, child victims, and parents; the three-hour session identifies the warning signs of abuse and teaches strategies for maintaining safe environments for children.

The Diocese requires all employees and volunteers who work with children to participate in an Awareness Session.

These awareness sessions are available in both English and Spanish. They are led by people from our Diocese specially trained as facilitators. Sessions are publicized through parishes, schools, the Southwest Kansas Register, and the diocesan website, www.dcdiocese.org/protectingchildren.

Through our Diocesan Awareness Sessions and other educational efforts of the Diocese, all people of the Diocese can learn how to discuss different aspects of abuse, including sexual abuse, with children and how to teach them to protect themselves.

Cuando los adultos que interactúan con menores incrementan su captación del abuso sexual de menores, forman un escudo que los protege. Este escudo es una red de adultos alertas ante situaciones potencialmente abuisvas, y de niños con confianza de hablar.

Todo adulto en la Diócesis Católica de Dodge City tiene una oportunidad de asistir a un foro diseñado para prevenir el abuso a los menores. Las Sesiones del Programa de Conscientización para Proteger a los Hijos de Dios están mejoradas con una serie de declaraciones video grabadas de culpables de abuso, de víctimas menores y de padres; las sesiones de tres horas identifican las señales de aviso de que existe abuso y enseñan las estrategias para mantener un entorno seguro paro los menores.

La Diócesis requiere a todos los empleados y voluntarios que trabajan con menores a asistir a las Sesiones de Conscientización.
