EDITORIAL

1) How do I submit an article, idea for an article, or photo?

If you have an idea for a story, call or email SKR editor Dave Myers and he will be happy to talk with you about it.

Include your name and contact information, including who wrote the article or took the photo. Or you can mail it to Southwest Kansas Register, P.O. Box 137, Dodge City, Kansas, 67876. Be sure and keep in mind deadlines, especially when the item is timely. If emailing a photo, be sure and send it as an attachment, and not as part of the body of the email text, or as part of another document.

2) Does the Register pay for stories and/or photos?

Unless the Register approaches a professional writer or photographer about covering a specific event, the SKR generally does not pay for stories or photos. The SKR is fortunate to have many people in the community who are very happy to provide articles and photos on a volunteer basis.

3) Is there a cost to run Happenings listings?

There is no cost to run a Happenings listing. Happenings may include any church or parish event. Also included are wedding anniversary or engagement announcements, and new birth announcements. Community events such as community-wide garage sales may also be included. Listings are brief and to-the-point. Photos can be included Send to the above address. Be sure and include contact information, and note in the listing a number for people to call (or email address) for more information, if applicable.

4) Do you print Letters to the Editor?

Yes. Letters should be no more than 300 words in length. Include your name, address and telephone number for verification. Anonymous letters will not be printed. Personal attacks will not be printed.

5) Where can I pick up a copy of the Register? How do I subscribe?

Any Catholic church in southwest Kansas should have copies on hand, or you can pick one up at the Catholic chancery in Dodge City, at 910 Central. Remember, you can see the entire issue online. You can also see an archives of old issues online dating back to January, 2009.

6) How often does the Register publish?

We publish twice a month, except for August, June and July, when we print once per month. You can see the issue dates here.

ADVERTISING

1) Do you design the ad, or must it be camera ready?

Either way. We’re happy to design the ad for you, if you choose, or you can send in your own pre-designed ad. If we design the ad, you will have final approval before it goes to press.

2) Does the Register accept political advertising?

No.
