We didn't have a list of items to discuss during our meeting in February.  Instead we had a dialogue with Bishop John Brungardt as to the members' sense of the Diocese and Presbyterate.

Just a reminder as proposed by the Council, Prepare Enrich Mentor Couple Training is set for April 2nd.

A welcome was extended to Father Rene Labrador who was appointed by the Council, completing the elected term of Msgr. Brian Moore.


From Fr. Wesley Schawe, Respect Life:

On Thursday, March 17th, at 2:00 pm all priests and pastoral ministers are invited to join Bishop Brungardt for a conversation about Natural Family Planning in the Diocese of Dodge City. This meeting, held at the chancery, will provide an opportunity for those with enthusiasm and/or experience to visit about a shared vision for NFP in marriage and family life in southwest Kansas.

Annual Parish Report
Thanks to those who submitted their reports.  There are a handful of parishes that I need their detailed records of baptism, confirmation, marriage and funeral.  These are due by this Friday, March 18.

Safe Environment

Three Protecting God’s Children Awareness Sessions have been scheduled:
Sunday, March 27 at Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City from 4-7 pm (English and Spanish)
Wednesday, March 30 at Holy Family School in Great Bend from 6-9 pm (English)

A reminder that all students in PSR and Catholic School need to have the Safe Environment Religious Education Curriculum lessons taught to them each year. Click here to access the page containing lessons for each grade. Principals and DREs are to submit their Report Form to Sister Janice by May 3, 2011.

Kansas Department for Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) has added a new option for reporting child and vulnerable abuse and neglect.  Go to the Safe Environment page for more information.

“Encounter” Visit to Conception Seminary: March 26-28Encounter With God's Call, for men high school juniors, seniors and those in college. Young men considering a call to priesthood are welcomed to spend two nights geared toward helping them with their vocational discernment. Participants experience college seminary life through prayer, talks by seminarians, and recreation. There is no charge for the weekend and the Diocese of Dodge City will provide transportation.  We will depart the morning of March 26 and return the afternoon of March 28. Important Information: A Parental Permission Form is required for all participants who are in High School.  A Medical Liability Release Form is required for all participants.

"Lifting Up Our Hearts" will take the place of Lenten Word Working this year. Word Working prayer pages are available year round for prayer/scripture reflection for council meetings, parish meetings, educational and formational sessions, and for small groups.

It is not too late to sign up for the Region IX Stewardship Conference at Savior Pastoral Center April 1st. Get the details on the Conference web page.

The Spirituality of Stewardship will be a 4 Week ITV series taught on DVD by Fr. John Lanzrath. Parish leaders need to attend this video so the purest understanding of stewardship can be had.
