►A Protecting God’s Children awareness session is schedule for Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in Ness City at the Sacred Heart School cafeteria from 6-9 pm. Go to http://www.dcdiocese.org/safe-environment for more details.
►DREs and Principals – Whether you are using the Safe Environment lessons or the safety training dvds, when you have completed the training you may submit to me BOTH the DRE or Principal Report Form AND the log sheets that indicate the dates the materials were presented. Because we will have an onsite audit next summer or fall, I am asking you to also send me each log sheet for each grade or grade combination. For this audit we will be required to produce all supporting documentation to what we say has occurred this past year. These log sheets and report forms are the manner in which we can provide documentation for this. ►I encourage DREs and Principals to complete the student training as early as possible this year so that we don’t run into a problem in April and May when time gets away from us. Any lack of training, whether lack of training students or lack of training adults through the Protecting God’s Children awareness session, may result in our Diocese being found not compliant.
►In the near future, pastors of PSR programs that have adults who are currently non-compliant with the safe environment requirements can expect a letter from Bishop Brungardt urging full compliance as soon as possible.
►Early in the new year I will be sending the Parish Report Forms to be completed within a few weeks. Unlike the Official Catholic Directory sheets you recently completed that request only the numerical statistics for those who have received the sacraments this past year, the annual diocesan Parish Report requires actual names, dates, name of minister, etc. Please honor the completion deadline that will be noted on the forms and cover letter. Thank you.

World Day of Prayer for Vocations (WDP) ~ April 29, 2012
The USA Council of Serra International carries free downloadable vocation awareness materials.

►Priests: The Vocations Office could benefit greatly from your wisdom and experience in promoting priestly vocations. At the October assembly, Bishop John offered some questions to stimulate your thinking. Click here for an easy-to-fill-out form with those very same questions.
►Website: How many of the current Dodge City seminarians have you met? How many of the current Dodge City seminarians are you praying for? Perhaps you would like to send a note or a birthday card. ►The fall is a great time to schedule a planned giving/will and estate seminar. Contact Eric Haselhorst to schedule a time. This is no boring presentation and not a sales pitch. Only a time to help people discover the variety of tools available to steward their resources and hopefully include your parish in their plans.
►I went to the New Catholic Media Conference in Kansas City October 1. To help people in your town fall in love with and want to be a part of your parish, feel free to contact the Stewardship Office to learn how the varieties of new media can benefit your parish. ►Updated Stewardship Brochures will be available October 15th. These are free and ready for you to download, customize and print. If your parish needs help placing your name, website and contact information on them, contact the Stewardship Office.
►Did you know that your parish can receive debit and credit card payments with a FREE Paypal account? The end user only needs to go to your website and pay as they wish. Want to learn more? Great, contact the Stewardship Office .
►Test your knowledge. When you have 5 minutes, take the stewardship best practices quiz (you can actually skip the quiz and go straight to the answer key) I posted this on my webpage for folks that need concrete things they can do to promote stewardship or at least see what works.

►Register your youth now for the Diocese of Dodge City pro-life pilgrimage to Topeka on Monday, January 23, 2012. Join Fr. Wesley and other pro-life leaders for a day of prayer, activity, and public witness to the value of every human life. For those who attended NCYC, this could be a great living-out of the call to service given in Indianapolis.
· Open to High School and College-age youth.
· Bus will depart from Dodge City at 5:00 am and stop in Great Bend to pick up others at 6:30 am.
· The day’s activities will include Mass, rally, lunch, March to the Capitol Building, rosary on the Capitol steps.
· Leave Topeka around 3:30 to return back to the Diocese, with return stops in Great Bend and Dodge City.
· Cost is $30 for youth and youth leaders (covers lunch and transportation);
donations are welcome to cover additional costs.
· Participants will need $$ for supper in Salina on the way home.
