From Sr. Janice Grochowsky, CSJ, JCL, Chancellor:

Chancellor

As noted in the Presbyteral Council Notes of the February 2012 meeting, beginning 1 May 2012 a testimonial form is required to be submitted for any priest (diocesan or religious) or deacon who comes into the Diocese of Dodge City for any ministerial .  An outline of the process and the testimonial forms are available on the Chancellor page of the website: http://www.dcdiocese.org/chancellor.

On a similar note, it is becoming more and more the norm that any priest from the Diocese of Dodge City traveling to another diocese may be asked to provide a testimonial document.  Contact Sister Janice (620-227-1527 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) several weeks before you will be traveling to the other diocese and I will complete a testimonial form on your behalf.  If the diocese to which you are traveling has its own testimonial form they would prefer to be completed, forward the form to Sister Janice to be completed.

Safe Environment

Annual Safe Environment Training of Students:

Principals and DREs – time is also running out to provide safe environment training to all students under your care.  Go to the following page on the Safe Environment website http://www.dcdiocese.org/safe-environment/safe-environment-religious-education-curriculum to download and print safe environment lesson, the log sheets (to document when the safe environment lessons were taught or when the safety dvd was presented) and the DRE or Principal Report form.  This year, because we will be audited, I am requesting both the log sheets and the Report form to be submitted to me.  As soon as all the students in your PSR program or school have been trained, please turn in the log sheets and Report Form to Sister Janice ( This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ) or fax: 620-227-1545; or by mail: P.O. Box 137, Dodge City, KS 67801. The absolute deadline for submitting these is May 4, 2012.  However, I would appreciate an earlier submission if it is at all possible.

From Fr. Wesley Schawe, Director of the Office of Priestly Vocations

►The Vocations Office wants to help high school seniors and transfer students from the Diocese of Dodge City get connected with their new college home this Fall! No matter where they’re going (community college, Catholic college, state university), we want to give their new parish or Catholic Center a “heads up” so they can be invited to continue and enrich their Catholic life. Some of the greatest activity in the Catholic Church today is centered on college campuses!
But we can’t do it without help! We need to know where your graduating high school seniors (plus transfer students and community college graduates) plan to be next year.
How can you gather that information? Some suggestions:
•    If you have a “graduation Mass” in May, have each graduate fill out the simple information as they gather for Mass.
•    From a Senior PSR class.
•    If one senior knows the class well, get the info. from him/her.
For a printable card to use at your “graduation Mass” and senior PSR class click here.  Electronic sign up will soon be available at www.dcdiocese.org/vocations

The 49th World Day of Prayer for Vocations, which will be celebrated on April 29, the Fourth Sunday of Easter, prompts us to meditate on the theme: Vocations, the Gift of the Love of God.
