► Seminarians in July
Pastors: Would you like the opportunity to introduce one of our seminarians to your parish? This July Tylan Ricketts, Juan Salas, and Jacob Schneider will each spend 3 weekends visiting parishes in the Diocese of Dodge City.
3 seminarians X 3 weekends = 9 parishes/clusters! We hope to arrange one weekend in each deanery, perhaps to conclude with a simple Sunday afternoon event for the seminarians and boys in that area.
They will be prepared to speak for a few minutes after communion, and assist in other ways if you so desire. Please let me know by the end of May of your interest in welcoming one of these men for the weekend.
► Companion Camp 2012
Boys entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grades are invited to an unforgettable weekend at Companion Camp 2012!

► Connecting Students with Their New College
The Vocations Office wants to help high school seniors and transfer students from the Diocese of Dodge City get connected with their new college home this Fall! No matter where they’re going (community college, Catholic college, state university), we want to give their new parish or Catholic Center a “heads up” so they can be invited to continue and enrich their Catholic life. Some of the greatest activity in the Catholic Church today is centered on college campuses!
But we can’t do it without help! We need to know where your graduating high school seniors (plus transfer students and community college graduates) plan to be next year.
How can you gather that information? Some suggestions:
• If you have a “graduation Mass” in May, have each graduate fill out the simple information as they gather for Mass.
• From a Senior PSR class.
• If one senior knows the class well, get the info. from him/her.
For a printable card to use at your “graduation Mass” and senior PSR class click here. Electronic sign up will soon be available at www.dcdiocese.org/vocations

As you receive this month’s notes more than likely you will be looking back over this past catechetical year. Reflecting on the ministry of your DRE, Catechists, RCIA Team Members and if you have school, your principal and teachers. A job well done and worthy of praise for the time, prayer and love they gave to serving the parish, families and young people.
At this time I would invite you to begin looking ahead to next year and specifically on two things that are part of the summer calendar.
First of all, I would invite you to strongly encourage all sophomores, juniors and this year’s graduates to be part of the Summer TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) July 7 – 9. TEC provides an environment where this encounter with Christ truly does happen, and in many cases, this encounter comes at just the right time as young people of this age face many crucial life decisions.
Secondly, as we continue to remember the many adults who served in ministry this past year, and as we prepare for next year, please encourage them to continue in their ministry by attending the State Conference “Catechising Kansas”, July 27 – 28 at the Ramada Inn in Salina. Registration information can be found on the web-site. This gathering promises to be a time of prayer and reflection, along with keynotes and workshops that will assist everyone in ministry. As well as the opportunity to visit venders regarding the latest in catechetical materials.
Thanks for all that you continue to do in support of our ministry.
From Coleen Stein, Director of Pastoral Ministry Formation & Catechist Formation

►Justice for Immigrants ~ A group in the Dodge City area has shown interest in forming a coalition to work for justice for immigrants. This group is not sponsored by any particular church or community. 38 people expressed interest in attending the first meeting, held on November 17, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Dodge City. An invitation is extended to others who are interested in hearing about this emerging coalition. I would like to send you a report of the meeting and a sign-in sheet on which participants made choices about what aspects of the issue they were interested in pursuing.
Some choices listed were: Learn About the Issue of Justice For Immigrants; Pray for Justice for Immigrants; Write to Officials in Washington, DC; Lead Meetings; Serve on a Speakers Bureau; Serve on a Leadership Team. If you are interested, please contact Maria Musick at 620-227-3592.
