From Sr. Janice Grochowsky, CSJ, JCL, Chancellor:

CHANCELLOR

Priest celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation

No Faculty Needed: If the priest baptizes an adult (that is, all those who, no longer infants, have attained the use of reason – c. 852, §2) or receives a baptized Christian into the Catholic Church, the law provides the priest with the faculty to immediately confirm the new member.

Faculty Needed: If the adult was baptized Catholic, and now some years later is seeking the sacrament of Confirmation, then the priest needs to request from Bishop Brungardt the faculty to confirm.

When a priest needs to request the faculty to administer the sacrament of Confirmation, email Alba Ortiz at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or write a letter to Bishop Brungardt requesting the faculty to confirm, stating the date of the confirmation and the names of the candidates to be confirmed.

Amor y Vida (Love & Life) Workshop at St. Dominic Saturday April 12th

The diocese will be sponsoring a Marriage and Family Life workshop on Saturday April 12th St. Dominic in Garden City.  This will be a Spanish speaking event focusing on God's plan for marriage, an introduction to Natural Family Planning, and how NFP is a way for couples to respond to the call to love and life in the sacrament. The presenter for this event is Raquel Guzman-Vargas FCP of the Diocese of Salina.   This is a great opportunity for couples in marriage preparation, couples who are already married, and anyone who is interested in understanding this area of family life in the Church.

From Fr. Wesley Schawe, Director of the Office of Priestly Vocations:

VOCATIONS

Pastors—would you like to have a Dodge City seminarian to be present and assist with your Triduum celebrations? They would be available in time for a Wednesday evening practice, and through your Easter Sunday liturgies. I ask that you feed them and provide a place for them to stay, but I leave it up to you if you wish to thank them in any other way. I hope you will consider this as an opportunity for you and him and your community. Please let me know if you would like to have one at your parish(es).

Encounter with God’s Call

The Encounter weekend is April 5-7.  Young men-high school juniors, seniors, and those of college age – are invited to join Fr. Rene Labrador for a road trip to Conception Seminary College.  The weekend is a time to hear talks and spend time with seminarians while enjoying time with other young men who are seeking God’s will in their life. There is no charge for the weekend and transportation is provided. Register online at http://dcdiocese.org/vocations/discernment-events or contact Becky Hessman at 620.227.1530 or This email address is being protected from spambots. New Seminarian Videos at http://www.dcdiocese.org/vocations/seminarians Meet our seminarians: Tylan, Juan, Jacob, Mark, and Joel.  Hear from each seminarian when you click on his picture.  The videos are largely un-edited and show the seminarians sharing stories of their calling and what life is like as a seminarian in a relaxed atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.
