The Most Rev. John Balthasar Brungardt serves as president

and publisher of the Southwest Kansas Register. He

was ordained the sixth bishop of Dodge City Feb. 2, 2011

at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Prior to his

ordination, he served as chancellor of the Wichita Diocese

and pastor of St. Mark Church in St. Mark, Kan.

Prior to his hiring in 2000, he served at

various newspapers in Colorado, where he

won several awards, including two first place

awards from the Colorado Press Association for his

Having served as editor for 10 years, Tim is invaluable

as a contributing writer and photographer. He is the

author of numerous books highlighting the history of

Dodge City and the parishes of Southwest Kansas.

He is the author of the diocesan history, “A Legacy of Faith,”

and the diocesan necrology, “Priests on the Prairie.”
