Discernment retreat for women

The Dominican Sisters of Great Bend are offering an opportunity for single Catholic women to come together for a "Come Risk the Sacred Journey" weekend. This will be an opportunity for them to reflect on the challenges that the Gospel presents in regard to the career and vocational choices they make. They will spend time with other women who also may be wondering where God is leading them.

Two discernment retreat weekends are scheduled. The first one will be held at the St. Catherine of Siena House of Discernment in Denver, Colo., beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, and concluding at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 5. The second weekend will follow the same schedule, Oct. 22-24 at the Dominican Sisters’ motherhouse in Great Bend. Retreat activities include the Eucharist, common prayer, and presentations on Call, Discernment and Dominican Life. There will also be adequate time for personal reflection, prayer and fun.

If interested, contact Sister Teri Wall, Vocation Director for the Dominican Sisters, by email at teriop@msn.com or call (303) 922-2997.

"Focusing -- Bio-Spiritual Awareness"

Saturday, Sept. 25, 9 a.m.-noon

Instructor: Sister Louise Hageman

$25 (Limit 12 participants)

"Focusing is a way of coming home to yourself. It is not complicated, just unfamiliar. This is an opportunity to sense how an issue feels in your body, not just what you think about it. You will also learn to befriend and make space for the issue so it can tell its story thereby finding a doorway for grace to surprise you. It is not the logic of reason and control which operates here, but some awesome power, direction and purpose different from anything we could ever imagine."
