Helen Leona Rohr, 89, of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick, Great Bend, died Aug. 1, 2007. She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Altar Society. Survivors include two sons, Ron and George; three sisters, Lenora Springer, Frieda Ureita, and Sister Lillian Stecklein; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Father Reginald A. Urban presided.

J.D. “Jimmie” Ridgway, 78, of St. Boniface Parish, Kiowa, died Aug. 2, 2007. He co-owned and operated the Drive-In Diary Bar and then worked at AT&SF Railways for almost 40 years. He retired from building businesses in 2001. He served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Louise Pelzl; two sons, Brock and Brett; a daughter, Cheryl Kidd; and seven grandchildren. Father John Strasser presided.

Agustin De La Torre - Guevara, 78, of St. Anthony Parish, Liberal, died Aug. 7, 2007.  He was a retired farmer. Survivors include four sons, Jose Antonio, Luis Amado, Joaquin, Camargo, and Roberto; two daughters, Maria Del Refojio and Carmen Helena De la Torre; a sister, Antonia De La Torre; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Father Tony Judge presided.

Alvin J. Herrman, 82, of St. Michael Parish, La Crosse, died Aug. 1, 2007. He was the owner and operator of Herrman’s Repair for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2970 and the Marian Fourth Degree Assembly No. 2118. Survivors include six sons, Ken, Jim, Dave, Leland, Dan, Brad; three daughters, Anna Mae Kreutzer, Lynette Pivonka, and Cindy Petz; three brothers, Marvin, Alex, and Albert; five sisters, Emma Moeder, Elenora Moeder, Bertha Sauber, Edith Bollig, and Sister Louise Herrman, ASC; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Fathers Rene Labrador and Reginald A. Urban presided.

Ann Herrman, 87, of St. Joseph Parish, Liebenthal, died Aug. 2, 2007. She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society. She is survived by her husband, Leonard Herrman; four daughters, Mary Catherine Brening, Ruth Siress, Elizabeth Richards, and Rebecca Joan Schmidt; a brother, Florian Geier; 11 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren. Fathers Gilbert Herrman and Rene Labrador presided.

Marie F. Hays, 94, of St. Lawrence Parish, Jetmore, died Aug. 11, 2007. She was a homemaker, farmer, horsewoman and worked in restaurants. She was a member of the Altar Society. Survivors include two daughters, Theresa Burns and Virginia Strong; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Father Ted Stoecklein presided.

Pearl Ann Call, 75, of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick, Great Bend, died Aug. 10, 2007. She was a homemaker and office manager for Swift Formation Testers. She belonged to the Alter Society. She is survived by her husband, Nelson Call; a son, Greg; a daughter, Paula Peterson; two sisters, Vera Springer and Lillian Robben; and three grandchildren. Father Reginald Urban presided.

Laura T. “Crissman” Werner, 99, of St. Nicholas Parish, Kinsley, died Aug. 12, 2007. She was a teacher and homemaker. She belonged to the Daughters of Isabella. Survivors include four sons, Bill, David, Tim, and Steve; three daughters, Lois Warner, Sue Nystrom, and Julie Knoeber; 24 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and 38 great-great-grandchildren. Father Nicanor Ferangco presided.

Agnes Marie Burkhart, 97, of St. Anthony Parish, Hanston, died Aug. 13, 2007. She was a homemaker and a school cook. She belonged to the Altar Society. Survivors include two sons, Norbert and Jerald; a sister, Leone Lampe; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Cletis Alfred Helfrich, 77, of St. Andrew Parish, Wright, died July 29, 2007. He farmed in the Wright area all of his life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a past Grand Knight. He is survived by his mother, Catherine (Strecker) Helfrich; five sons, Rodney, Carl, David, Brian, and William; one brother, Wilfred Helfrich; four sisters, Jovita Shean, Mary Ida Heskamp, Willetta Samuels, and Jeannine Gemmill; and 10 grandchildren. Father Robert Schremmer presided.

Albertine Agnes Denning, 84, of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick, Great Bend, died Aug. 16, 2007. She was a nurse’s aide at Great Bend Manor, and a member of the Altar Society. Survivors include five sons, Frank, Lee, Jim, Larry, and Hank; three daughters, Jan Bailey, Joyce Noble, and Doris Weigel; three brothers, Richard VonFeldt, Rudy VonFeldt, and Roy VonFeldt; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Jessie J. Novack, 82, of St. Joseph Parish, Offerle, died Aug. 18, 2007. She was a homemaker.Survivors include three sons, Eugene Barlovic, Henry Barlovic, and Garvin; two daughters, Terri Generals and Elaine Paris; a sister, Julie Salmons; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.  Susie Marie White, 99, of St. Mary Parish, Marienthal, died Aug. 18, 2007. She was a homemaker. Survivors include nephews, Jim Shafer, Bob Leach, Gary Ray, Gene Ray, and Larry Goddard; nieces, Diana White Fox, Connie Ray Gigot, Jacque Shafer Scott, and Judy Shafer Jenkins; a great-nephew, Jeff White; and two great-nieces, Jennifer White and Jana Sanborn.
