Deacon Dwaine Lampe was installed Aug. 21 at St. Lawrence Church in Jetmore as Parish Life Coordinator for the Hanston and Jetmore parishes.

As Parish Life Coordinator, Deacon Lampe will provide pastoral care for and pastoral leadership to the Jetmore and Hanston parishes. Father Dennis Reed, pastor at St. John the Baptist, Spearville, is appointed priest supervisor and sacramental minister for Hanston and Jetmore. As priest supervisor, he directs the pastoral ministry of the parishes, and mentors, advises and supports Deacon Lampe in his role as Parish Life Coordinator. As sacramental minister, Father Reed will provide regular weekend celebrations of the Eucharist with the assistance of other priests. These appointments are in accord with canon 517, 2.

The appointment comes six months after the death of Sister Karen Ackerman, ASC, who served in the position for less than one month before succumbing to a sudden illness.

In a special Mass, Bishop Ronald Gilmore told Deacon Lampe that he must "pursue consistently one simple task. He must come to know who Jesus is. Not in any theoretical sense, but really and deeply in his heart.

"... Make Jesus real for your people, Dwaine. Keep Jesus real. And you will do so by keeping Jesus real for you."

Concelebrating the Mass were Fathers Dennis Reed and Robert Schremmer, and Msgr. Brian Moore. Following Mass was a dinner reception.

Deacon Lampe and his wife, Louise, reside in Spearville. They have five grown children and 11 grandchildren.
