Mary Louise Schmidt, 81, of St. Rose Parish, Great Bend, died July 16, 2006. She belonged to the Altar Society. Survivors include a son, Rick Schmidt; two daughters, Sharon Smythe and Sheila Schmidt; a stepbrother, Donald Hertel; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Terri Lynn (Sanders) Kowalsky, of Ellinwood, died peacefully at home on July 15, 2006. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Kowalsky; sons, Kevin and Kyle; parents, Don and Agnes Sanders; sister, Sheila Helm; brothers, John, Mike and Richard Sanders; sister, Julia Novak; and several nieces and nephews. Joseph J. Bauck Sr., 93, of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Leoti, died July 17, 2006. He was a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 2930. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Kreutzer); a son, Joseph J. Bauck Jr.; a daughter, Carlotta Brack; three brothers, George, Clement, and Carl; two sisters, Margaret Wieser and Lucille Page; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Ray Rowland, 72, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died July 16, 2006. In 1958, he married Yolanda Canez. Other survivors include a son, Sonny Rowland; five daughters, Linda Delgado, Cathy Knarsboro, Joann Harris, Dolly Edwards and Terresa Smith Rowland; a brother, Pete Rowland Jr.; four sisters, Frances Bribiesca, Irene Ortiz, Priscilla Johnston and Rhonda Martinez; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Carl F. Bauck, 88, of St. Dominic Parish, Garden City, died July 18, 2006. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Laura V. (Rome); a son, James C.; two daughters, Connie Barnum and Nancy Bauck; two brothers, George C. and Clem J.; two sisters, Margaret Wieser and Lucille Page; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Irma Garcia, 52, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died July 15, 2006. Survivors include a son, Ivan; a daughter, Ruth Garcia, Garden City; her mother, Margarita Carreon Garcia; three brothers, Manuel, Ruben and Armando Garcia; two sisters, Socorro Garcia and Marta Garcia; and five grandchildren. Dorothy M. Danler, 75, of St. Nicholas Parish, Kinsley, died July 20, 2006. She is survived by her husband, LaVern E. Danler; four sons, Mark, John, Michael and Glendon; three daughters, Jeanne Eustace, Lora Lobmeyer and Tammy Barron; a brother, Robert Bernatzki; three sisters, Audrey Huffman, Ruth Domme and Helen Delay; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Hattie Tinkel, 86, of St. Rose Parish, Great Bend, died July 20, 2006. She belonged to the Altar Society. Richard LeRoy McMillan, 79, of St. Mary’s Parish, Garden City, died July 22, 2006. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus; served on the Finney County sheriff’s posse for many years; and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Stickney); 10 sons, Stan, Fred, Mark, Sam, Charles, Ricki, Randy (stationed in Iraq), Rod, James and Peter; five daughters, Marcy Sim, Judy Smith, Ceci Van Voorhees, Teresa Prochaska and Mary Beth Pinkney; his mother, Leona McMillan; a brother, Wayne; 35 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Rosa G. Martinez, 38, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died July 23, 2006. Survivors include her parents, Alfred Garrido Emiliano and Sergia Garduno de Garrido; her husband, Reynaldo Martinez; two sisters; a grandmother; and uncles and aunts.

Judy Gleason Charpentier, 55, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died July 24, 2006. Survivors include three brothers, Danny Ray Gleason, Butch Gleason, and K.D. Gleason; four sisters, Connie Jo Orrison, Sharon Esquibel, Jeri Lynn Jackson, and Pat Palmer; and numerous nephews and nieces. Father Ted A. Skalsky presided.

Mary Ann Schulte, 83, of St. Helen Parish, Hugoton, died July 26, 2006. She belonged to the Altar Society. Survivors include two sons, Wayne and Steve; four daughters, Elaine Schulte, Eloise Goodell, Barbara Bates, and Rebecca Madsen; three sisters, Scholastica Leiker, Alexia Munk, and Doris Applehans; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. James L. Feist, 65, of St. Joseph Parish, Ellinwood, died July 27, 2006. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 1187, and had served in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors include his mother, Margaret M. Heinz; four brothers, Aaron, J. Alan, Donald, and Kenneth; and a sister, Marlene Feist. Father Charles Mazouch presided.

Cassidy T. "Butch" Riegel, 29, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died July 30, 2006. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and Young Farmers and Ranchers Association. Survivors include his parents, Steve and Denise Schinstock Riegel; numerous brothers and friends; a sister, Chambre Riegel; five uncles, Jim R. and Linda Burke, John and Brenda Schinstock, Jack Schinstock, Kenny and Karla Schinstock, and Gary Rabe; five aunts, Leslie and Rod Schoonover, Toni Ann and Gerald Trebilcock, Mary Jo and Duane Tasset, Vicki and Richard Brownrigg, and Peggy and Jay Taylor; and numerous cousins. Maria R. Gomez, 57, of St. Joan of Arc Parish, Elkhart, died July 30, 2006. Juan Amador, 37, of St. Anthony Parish, Liberal, died July 31, 2006. Survivors include his mother, Josefina Sierra Amador; his wife, Veronica (Nunez); seven brothers, Ricardo, Jose, M. Ethel K. Moore, 80, of St. John the Baptist Parish, Spearville, died July 31, 2006. She served in the Navy as a clerk and typist. She married John Franklin Moore. John A. Benish, 76, of St. John the Baptist Parish, Spearville, died Aug. 3, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Annette (Kropp); three sons, Kenneth, Lorne, and Michael; three daughters, Catherine Benish, Teresa Blackwell, and Kimberly Ruder; two sisters, Alberta Schmidt and Clara Perini; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Edward Drees, 71, of the Catholic Community of Great Bend, died Aug. 4, 2006. He was a church usher, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Faithful Comptroller of the 4th Degree, Boys Scouts of America, Vigil Honor member of the Order of the Arrow and received the Silver Beaver Award. He served in the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Ronnie L. (Boor); a son, Randy; three daughters, Carma Strayer, Kelly Anthony, and Christy Harmon; two stepsons, Ryan C. Williams and Gregg Williams; a stepdaughter, Kimberly A. Williams-Cloyd; his mother, Bertha Drees; two brothers, Kenneth and Tony; seven grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. Alix Margaret Hering, 97, of Sacred Heart Parish, Ness City, died Aug. 6, 2006. She was formerly a teacher at Sacred Heart School, and was a member of the Altar Society. Survivors include two sons, Gary R. and Robert W.; a daughter, Marilyn J. Cambron; two sisters, Avril Craig and Avonne Fox; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Rodrigo Renteria Soto, Jr., 28, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died Aug. 6, 2006.
