During the last week of June, 20 members of the high school youth group from the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe went on a mission trip with "Youthworks" in Pawhuska, Okla. on the Osage Reservation north of Tulsa. Five adults also attended the mission, among them, Father Wesley Schawe. The mission trip has become an annual event for the youth group. "This was my second," Father Schawe said. "Last year we went to South Dakota. The mission trip phenomenom has taken off lately for high school youth." Other groups in the Diocese of Dodge City also have recently attended mission trips, including youth from Great Bend and Garden City. Coverage from those trips will be in an upcoming issue. While on the Osage reservation, the Dodge City youth spent time performing work projects, such as painting houses and beautifying landscapes, and also spent time with the local Kids Club, playing games, making crafts, and taking part in skits. There were two other groups with the youth from Dodge City; one was from a Methodist Church in Kentucky and the other from an Episcopal Church in Tyler, Texas.
