Diocese celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

The Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe was electrified Dec. 11-12 (left) as troupes of dancers took to the floor to entertain several hundred onlookers, and to honor the patroness of the diocese. Festivities went on into the night, and included a Midnight Spanish Mass. At 10 p.m., a torch was carried from the old Guadalupe church, to the cathedral.

La Catedral de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe estuvo viva con los danzantes y las tamboras que resonaron el 11 de diciembre cuando varios grupos participaron para celebrar la fiesta de la patrona de la catedral. Los danzantes bailaron varias horas, y luego llego la hora de la Misa de media noche.

 

 

Dancers’ float takes first at Ulysses parade

The Guadalupanos (above) of Mary Queen of Peace Church in Ulysses received first place in the annual Ulysses Christmas parade for their float and escort of matachines, the traditional Mexican dancers.
