2007 RCIA Retreat:

‘Journeys to Conversion’

Saturday 9:30 a.m. -3 p.m. (9 a.m. registration)

Feb. 10 Heartland Center in Great Bend

Feb. 17 Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral in Dodge City

Facilitators: Renee Dreiling and Jolene Geier, OP; Matilda Monterrose and Maria Elena Martinez-Sifuentes, MCMI

Cost: $50 per parish and $15 per person or $30 per person. (Lunch charge is included and family fees negotiable)

This retreat is a time of reflection and prayer with others who are also engaged in the RCIA program. It is designed as a preparation for the Lenten scrutinies but not intended to replace the scrutiny process in the parish. This RCIA retreat is for catechumens, candidates, sponsors and teams as part of the recommended RCIA formation process for the diocese. Both retreats will be divided into English and Spanish groups.

SpiritLife: A Spiritual Formation Process (Feb. 3)

On Feb. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., the SpiritLife Spiritual Formation Process will be held at Heartland Center for Spirituality, 3600 Broadway Great Bend, KS 67530. Participants may join any of the sessions and they are not committed to the whole day. Pre-registration is required.

The topics and instructors for the day include:

9:30 a.m. Types of Christian Spirituality – Philip St. Romain, M.S., D.Min

Just as there are different types of personalities and vocations, so, too, are there different ways of traveling the spiritual journey. In this class, we will review several of the most common pathways.

10:55 a.m. Bio-Spirituality-Focusing – Louise Hageman OP

Focusing is a way of coming home to one’s self. It is not complicated, just unfamiliar. This is an opportunity to learn to sense how an issue feels in your body, not just what you think about it. You will also learn to befriend and make space for the issue so it can tell its story, thereby finding a doorway for grace to surprise you. It is not the logic of reason and control which operates here, but some awesome power, direction and purpose different from anything we could ever imagine

1:00 p.m. Spiritual Formation Group – a time to process what’s been happening in classes; sharing one’s journey; inquiry and feedback.

2:15 p.m. Focusing Practice – Louise Hageman OP

This time provides an opportunity to experience the focusing method developed by Eugene Gendlin, which enables self-acceptance, relaxation, and openness to inner integration.

9:30 a.m. The Spiritual Journey – Philip St. Romain, M.S., D.Min

We begin where we are and journey to ever-deepening union with God. In Year Two, one of our classes will reflect on spiritual development, but today will be a sneak-preview of some of the signposts along the way.

10:55 a.m. Process Spirituality – Philip St. Romain, M.S., D.Min

How do we understand God’s role in an ever-changing, evolutionary universe? Process theologians have been grappling with this question for over a century, and this class with briefly review some of the approaches that have been taken.

1:00 p.m. Spiritual Formation Group – a time to process what’s been happening in classes; sharing one’s journey; inquiry and feedback.

2:15 p.m. Enneagram Basics – Rev. Daniel Sheetz

Why Do I Do What I Do? The one-hour presentation will offer a practical and spiritual introduction/overview of the ennegram, an ancient tool which provides insight for personal growth and enlightenment. Study of the ennegram often enables one to discover the true self and grow toward psychological and spiritual maturity.
