Obituaries

Lois Kerr Borger, 103, of Sacred Heart Parish, Ness City, died March 13, 2007. She belonged to the Christian Mothers of Ness City and was involved with the American Agriculture Movement. Survivors include two sons, Rodney and James T.; three daughters, Nathalie Schaben, Joanne Stenzel, and Shelby Seib; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Nedra Dasenbrock, 74, of St. Stanislaus Parish, Ingalls, died March 13, 2007. She worked as a secretary at Sacred Heart School and in the Education Department at St. Mary of the Plains College. She belonged to the Associate of the Sister’s of St. Joseph. Her husband, Joe A. Dasenbrock, died March 7, 2007. Survivors include three sons, Larry, Steve, and Tim; four daughters, Jolene Durler, Theresa Dasenbrock, Susan Urban, and Brenda McFall; and 10 grandchildren. Fathers Joseph E. Bahr and Ted A. Skalsky presided.

Hung M. Dinh, 57, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died March 13, 2007. He was a Dodge City resident since 1984, moving from Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Lien Tran; a son, John Dinh; a stepdaughter, Lan Trin; two brothers, Johnny and Minh Dinh; and a grandson. Father Trong Tran presided.

Victor Hochstatter, 90, of Prince of Peace Parish, Great Bend, died March 13, 2007. He was a conductor for Missouri Pacific Railroad, St. Louis, Mo. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Ehler; two brothers, John and Glenn Hochstatter; and two sisters, Gertrude Tolbert and Margaret Hochstatter. Anna Armella Stoddard, 88, of St. Nicholas Parish, Kinsley, died March 17, 2007. She was a member of St. Nicholas Altar Society and St. John’s Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. She is survived by her son Greg Stoddard; three daughters, Vicki Gillett, Veronica Stoddard, and Althea Simmons; her sister, Pauline Green;; two grandsons; four granddaughters; one great-grandson; three step-great-granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Taylor Wade Oglesby, 21, of St. Dominic Parish, Garden City, died March 14, 2007. He was a grain elevator operator for Garden City CO-OP. Survivors include his parents, Marcus and Tarcy Tucker Oglesby; his wife,  Natasha Marie Murphy; a son, Tucker Wade; his grandparents, Joe and Kay Oglesby, and Jack and Rosalie Tucker. Rosalio Jimenez Terrones, 42, of Assembly of God Church, Leoti, died March 18, 2007. He was a farmer and a stockman.  Survivors include his mother, Maria De La Luz Jimenez; four brothers, Jose, Aristeo, Gilberto, and Jairo Rito; and two sisters, Marta Sanchez and Sonia Barroso. Father Benjamin Martin presided.

Alice Agnes Tatro, 76, of St. Aphonsus Parish, Satanta, died March 18, 2007. She belonged to the St. Alphonsus Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella, Garden City. She is survived by her husband, Paul Edward Tatro; three sons, Ronald, Charles, and Randy; three daughters, Rita Dennis, Rose Crum, and Ruth Mann; four brothers, Lawrence, Albert, Henry, and Leo Bayer; two sisters, Helen Gehlen and Pauline Hahn; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Father Jim Dieker presided.

Maria D. Villanueva, 68, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died March 18, 2007. She had worked as a housekeeper at St. Catherine Hospital. Survivors include her husband, Servando “Joe” Villanueva; four sons, Melvin, Oscar, LeRoy, and Billy Jo; two daughters, Mary Jo Andersen and Melody; four brothers, Seferino, Isaac, Fernando, and Nicho Serna; a sister, Felicita Smith; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Father Anthony Judge presided.

Mary Magdalen Ray, 85, of Sacred Heart Parish, Pratt, died March 20, 2007. Survivors include three sons, Terry Curtis, Connie Joe, and Keith Ronald; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Father Gregory S. LeBlanc presided.

Martin Zacaharia Garcia Jr., of Garden City, was stillborn March 21, 2007. He was the son of Martin and Edna Valdez Garcia. Survivors include a brother, Philip Chavez; two sisters, Rebecca and Cassandra Chavez; his grandparents, Dioselina Garcia, Elisa Talavera, Terry Valdez, and Alfonso Valdez Sr. Father Tony Judge presided.

Pollux Diego Hernandez, 4, of St. Helen Parish, Hugoton, died March 20, 2007. He was born May 2, 2002, in Guymon, Okla., the son of Jesus and Marina Garcia Hernandez. Survivors include a brother, Castor Hernandez; grandparents Jesus and Maria Franco Hernandez, and Juan and Gabriela Garcia; and great-grandparents, Jovita Meza, and Gonzal and Josefina Guerrero. Father Jamie Medina officiated.

Edward J. “Eddie” Gehlen, 53, of Holy Rosary Parish, Medicine Lodge, died March 24, 2007. He worked in the oil field for 34 years and most recently for Duke Drilling. Survivors include two brothers, Arnold and Raphael; and six sisters, Sister Lillian Gehlen, Alma Weber, Dolores Hudson, Catherine Wooten, Virginia Horn, and Elizabeth Mosimon. Jerome K. Behr, 74, of Great Bend, died March 27, 2007. He was a U.S. Army veteran, stationed in Germany. He is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Stehwein; three sons, Tim, Michael, and Shawn; four daughters, Rebecca Burgess, Roberta Wood, Ramona Schneider, and Carol Hopkins; three brothers, Francis, and twins, Gerald “Yogi,” and Max; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Father Wesley Schawe presided.

Fredrick R. Sullivan, 83, of St. Dominic Parish, Garden City, died March 26, 2007. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. Survivors include three daughters, Carol Nanninga, Judy Dohogene, and Sally Farmer; a brother John; a sister, Betty Davis; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Anthony “Tony” Ornelas Sr., 64, of St. Mary’s Parish, Garden City, died March 26, 2007. Survivors include his father, Julian Ornelas; two sons, Tony Jr. and Cary; three daughters, Stacey Bruno, Stephanie Ornelas, and Misty Hernanez; two brothers, John and Julian Ornelas Jr.; three sisters Lupe Jennings, Irene Hernandez, and Mary Ann Piligian; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Alban J. Giebler, 82,  of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died March 28, 2007. He was a 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 2955. He is survived by his wife, Leona Dreiling; two sons, Doug and Darren; two brothers, William and Patrick; a sister, Jane Werth; and a granddaughter. Father Ted A. Skalsky presided.
