Two priests face illness; Father Reed retires Bishop Gilmore asks the Catholic community to pray for Father Dennis Reed and Father Joseph Bahr who face health challenges. On March 30, Father Reed was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive cancer involving his liver and gall bladder. He has been granted full retirement and will reside at the Priests Retirement Center in Wichita. Cards for Father Reed can be sent to his residence at the Priest Retirement Center, 6900 E. 45th St. N., Apt. F-1, Wichita, KS 67226. Father Bahr collapsed April 16, during Holy Thursday services at St. Stanislaus Church in Ingalls. He stopped breathing, but was given CPR by a member of the congregation and transported by ambulance to St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City. He remained hospitalized at press time and is being treated for a kidney ailment.
