Diocesan retreat for college students, March 24-26
The Diocese of Dodge City invites college students from the community colleges within the diocese and students from this diocese who are attending other colleges in Kansas to a weekend retreat at Camp Lakeside on Scott Lake, March 24-26.
The retreat is an opportunity for students to take time away from their busy schedules to consider what is important in their lives and to share their journey of faith with other students.
Two years ago, several students from Seward Community College asked St. Anthony’s Church in Liberal to form a club for Catholic college students, the St. Anthony’s SAINTS. The college club has helped students who live on campus to feel welcomed at the parish. The students also add their own special gifts to the life of the community.
There are five community colleges in the Diocese of Dodge City. They are located in Dodge City, Garden City, Barton, Pratt and Seward. The diocese invites students -- especially those who attend these colleges -- to participate in this retreat during Lent.
The St. Anthony’s SAINTS and the Redemptorists will host the retreat. The retreat theme is "Discipleship -- Jesus asked his disciples, ‘Who do you say that I am?’"
Flyers for the retreat are available at the Catholic Churches located in the towns with community colleges. Information on the retreat may be obtained by calling St. Anthony’s Church in Liberal, (620) 624-4135.
The retreat begins on Friday evening at 6 p.m., March 24 at Camp Lakeside, outside of Scott City. The retreat ends at 4 p.m. on Sunday. The cost of registration for the retreat is only $25.
Redemptorist Father Mike McAndrew said he hopes "to make the Spring College Retreat an annual event in the diocese."
