It’s that time of the year again, when Knights of Columbus from across the diocese host annual free-throw contests for children and youth. Here are a few of the photos that have been sent in so far. ST. ALPHONSUS -- (First two photos at left) The St. Alphonsus Knights of Columbus hosted their annual Free Throw Championship on Sunday, Jan. 22, at the Satanta High School Gym. The competition brought out 21 boys and girls ages 10-14. The winners of the local competition will move on to the regional contest and will have the opportunity to move on to the state level as well. All participants received a certificate and a basketball from the Knights of Columbus. The winners of the local contest were (left, center): 10 year old Girls: Katy Clawson, 10 year old Boys: Garret Miller, 11 year old girls: Alley Kay Young, 11 year old boys: Jr. Salas, 12 year old girls: Atasha Connor, 12 year old boys: Brady Merz, 13 year old girls: Aubree Young. Pictured at top are most of the participants of the free throw shoot. OLMITZ -- (Left) The Olmitz 2100 Council of the Knights of Columbus held its annual free throw competition Jan. 15. Winners in each division were (LtoR) Trevor Keller, 11; Michael Hlavaty, 13; Brandon Pechanec, 12; Kristin Wondra, 13; Sam Higgason, 10; and Kimberly Pechanec, 10. Winners in each division advanced to the regional K of C free throw context at Barton County Community College.
