Lenten Day of Prayer: Embracing God’s Love

Sunday, Feb. 13, 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Cost: Free will donation. Please register for meals: brunch $4; supper $5.50.

"We were made to love our God from whose hands we come. When we turn aside from that love we enter the deserts of our poor choices. Lent is the time to leave the desert of our addictive choices and return the love of God. The day includes Morning and Evening Prayer, Eucharist, conference at 11:30 a.m. and Adoration hours with Rosary meditations on the Sorrowful Mysteries."

St. Pat’s, Chanute, Kansas school reunion

CHANUTE — A date has been set for the first St. Patrick School all-school reunion. Although June 18 has been set as the date, additional plans are still being finalized. For updates check the parish website: http://www.amacominc.com/~stpats. Organizers are attempting to inform as many alumni as possible. Former students are invited to send their address and keep checking the website for final plans.

Charity wine tasting event

Catholic Social Service of the Diocese of Dodge City is hosting a Charity Wine Tasting Event Friday, April 1, from 7-10 p.m. at The Club at Stoneridge in Great Bend.

The evening will include a live and silent auction with hors d’eouvres, and music by recording artist Richard F. Falcon, Jr.

Proceeds from the event will support Catholic Social Service Infant and Special Needs adoption programs. More information, including costs, will be published in the SKR closer to the date of the event.

Youth Encuentro and Martin Valverde concerts upcoming

The Office of Hispanic Ministry for the diocese of Dodge City will present a youth conference in Spanish on March 5 in Garden City. Martin Valverde, well known for his music and youth work internationally will be in concert as part of the Encuentro.

All youth of the diocese are welcome for the event which will be at the Three I building in Garden City on Saturday, March 5 from 1-10 p.m. Tickets may be purchased before or at the door for $10.

Martin Valverde will also have a concert for married couples and for those engaged on Friday, March 4 at the Cathedral in Dodge City from 7-10 p.m. Watch for more information on these events in your parishes. The cost of the concert is $10 per person or $15 per couple. There will be more about this event in the next Register.
