On Feb. 2, members of the Vietnamese community gathered
at the Golden Dragon restaurant in Garden City for a fun-filled feast of
culture, community, and camaraderie.
Lunar New Year, or Tet, is observed on the first full
moon of the year, and may last for several days. Celebrated in many
different parts of Asia, the festivities vary in flavor depending on the
region.
Present at the celebration was Father Augustine Nguyen,
who escaped North Vietnam at age 15, and who now serves the Diocese of
Dodge City.
The evening included Vietnamese cuisine, music, and
special presentations.
