The old St. George Church from Bucklin was moved to Dodge City’s Boot Hill - Front Street replica Feb. 13. It will be restored as the Union Church, the community’s 19th century non-denominational house of worship. The steeple was removed prior to transportation. Originally an oil field shack, the building was converted to a church and blessed on Jan. 9, 1943. The congregation named the church after the patron saint of their first pastor, Msgr. George Husmann. The church served the congregation for nearly 50 years. |
