Charity Wine Tasting Event

Catholic Social Service of the Diocese of Dodge City is hosting a Charity Wine Tasting Event Friday, April 1, from 7-10 p.m. at The Club at Stoneridge in Great Bend.

The evening will include a live and silent auction with hors d’eouvres, and music by recording artist Richard F. Falcon, Jr.

Proceeds from the event will support Catholic Social Service Infant and Special Needs adoption programs. More information, including costs, will be published in the SKR closer to the date of the event.

Pregnancy Center needs items

The ABC Pregnancy Center in Pratt is in need of cribs, baby wipes, monthly donors to keep their programs going, and volunteers to help out at the Center. Grief recovery workshops

The Southwest Kansas Grief Support Team will again be offering a series of workshops for persons who have suffered a significant loss and would like help coping with the grief experience. The loss may be a death, divorce, or some other major life-event loss. These workshops are presented by the Grief Support Team, which is a consortium of groups and individuals from southwest Kansas -- including representatives from St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City -- who have come together to provide grief support services.

The Grief Recovery Workshops will take place over three Saturday mornings – March 5, 12, and 19 – from 9 a.m. until noon, at the First Baptist Church of Garden City, 11th and Jones streets. There is no cost for the workshops. The workshop schedule of topics is as follows:

March 5 – Types of loss, Stages of Grief, and Doing Grief Work

March 12 – Dealing with anger, guilt, depression, and Steps to Recovery

March 19 – Children & Grief, Suicide, Holidays, and Spiritual Issues

The Grief Recovery Workshops, which are taught by Rev. Carroll Morony, President of the SW Kansas Grief Support Team and pastor at First Baptist Church, will give the participants the necessary tools to help them successfully complete their own grief journey.
