Leona M. Burnett,
89, of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose, Great Bend, died Jan. 14, 2008. She was a
homemaker and assistant manager of TG&Y. She belonged to the Altar Society.
Survivors include a son, Donald L. Herl; a daughter, Almeda Jurgensen; a brother, Wendlin “Buddy” Dinges; two
sisters, Henrietta Houser and Elizabeth Wolf; eight grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Father Reginald A.
Urban presided.
Luiz Ramon “Blackie” Orozco, 65, of St. Mary
Parish, Garden City, died Jan. 15, 2008. He was a maintenance mechanic for
Northern Natural Gas Co. He was also a member of the Patriot Guard. Survivors
include his wife, Phyllis E. King; three sons, Scot, Luiz
R. Jr., and Felip S.; four daughters, Celestia Delinda Orozco, Lea
Orozco, Selyna Brown, and Ana Patricia Cordoba; a
brother, Vincente Orozco; three sisters, Sister
Teresa Orozco, Susana Stegman, and Denise Estep; and
16 grandchildren. Father Floyd McKinney presided.
Rose S. Herrera,
93, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, died Jan. 15, 2008. She was born
July 14, 1914, in the Mexican Village in Dodge
City. She worked as a maid at the Lora-Locke and the
O’Neill Hotels. She also worked during the war in a sewing and tent-making
shop. Survivors include many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Clara Mary Lobmeyer
Lampe, 97, of St. Raphael Parish, Syracuse, died Jan. 12,
2008. She worked as a sales clerk for Eller’s Department Store until 1931. She
was a member of St. Raphael’s Altar Society. Survivors include two sons, Jerome
Henry and Robert Thomas; two daughters, Mary Catherine Gleason and Loraine
Philomena Durler; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Heriberto Ramirez Jr., four months, of
Garden City, died Jan. 13, 2008. Survivors include his parents, Heriberto and Kimberly Cruz Ramirez Sr.; two brothers,
Isaac Enrique Ramirez and Isaiah Ivan Ramirez; grandparents, Estevan and Bernice Maldonado, and Salvador
and Rebeca Ramirez Jr.; and great-grandparents, Salvador and Angela Ramirez

Vernon L. Kaiser,
69, of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose, Great Bend, died Jan. 21, 2008. He owned and
operated Kaiser Insurance Agency and was a machinist for Great Bend Industries
and an assistant manager for Buff’s Car Wash. Survivors include a son, Douglas
Lee; a daughter, Lori Diane Crowther; stepfather,
Virgil Stadelman; two brothers, Ben and Ken; two
sisters, JaNelda Butler and LaVeda
Heider; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and
nephews. Father Wesley Schawe presided.
Angelita Haas Bahr,
86, formerly of Great Bend, died Jan. 14, 2008
in Illinois. She was the wife of the late Colonel
(retired) Herman J. Bahr. She is
survived by her sons, William, Robert and Thomas; as well as grandsons
Jonathan, and Christopher (LT), who is stationed at Ft. Riley.
Bahr is also survived by her sisters, Regina Tarpey
and Bernice Dreiling, and many nieces and
nephews. Funeral services were held at
the Chapel of the Veterans in Leavenworth, with
burial at Leavenworth

Jan. 25.
Charles David Helfrich,
20, of St. Stanislaus Parish, Ingalls, died Jan. 21,
2008 after a lifetime battle with Duchenne Muscular
Dystrophy. He was a 2006 graduate of Cimarron
High School and was a
student at Garden City Community College. Survivors include his parents, David
and Beth Helfrich; a sister, Janae
Helfrich; and grandparents, Stanley and Janet Kliesen. Fathers Robert A. Schremmer and Floyd McKinney
presided.
Catherine Helfrich, 100, of St. Andrew Parish, Wright, died Jan. 22, 2008.
She was a homemaker and an active member of the Altar Society. Survivors
include five children, Jovita Shean,
MaryIda Heskamp, Wilfred Helfrich, Willetta Samuels, and
Jeannine Gemmill; 27 grandchildren; and 49
great-grandchildren. Father Robert A. Schremmer presided.
Angel Martial, 66, of St. Dominic Parish, Garden City, died Jan. 19,
2008. He was well known as a musician in Guatemala and a world renowned
martial arts master. He was owner of Martial’s Kenpo Karate School
in Garden City. In June 2007, he was inducted into the
International Kenpo Hall of Fame in Chicago. He is survived by his wife, Laya; two sons, Jesus Ruben and Juan Angel; and eight
grandchildren. Father Floyd McKinney presided.
