Developing Christian values

By Lindzie Rambat

Fifth grader, Sacred Heart School, Pratt

My parents decided to send me to a Catholic school for many reasons. They wanted my to have an early faith foundation. They also felt that going to a private school would give me a better education because private schools traditionally have smaller classes.

I like going to Sacred Heart because it is a small school and we are able to know everyone personally. The small classes allow me to get the help I need. I have made a lot of good friends and I have enjoyed all of my teachers at Sacred Heart.

I really enjoy the privileges we have to go on field trips as a class. We have gone to the State Fair where we learned more about our state and we ate lots of food! My favorite was a caramel apple, it was one of the best I’ve ever had!! In the fourth grade, my class went to the Exploration Place in Wichita. We got to learn about the human body. One of the experiments I remember the most was getting to smell old food after it had set out for a week or so. It was BAD!!!

As a student at a Catholic school I am able to develop Christian values which will help me in the future. When I get older, I will make good choices and become great at the job I choose. I want to become a teacher and if I do, I will already have had a great example from my teachers. At Sacred Heart I feel like I am getting well prepared for my future!

‘A super place to work

and learn’

By the teachers of

Sacred Heart School, Pratt

Why teach in a Catholic school? Being able to teach about God, celebrating Christmas and Easter; being able to pray in the classroom with the students; the parents give support to the school and volunteer work; the smaller class size allows time for individual attention.

"We are able to share our faith with the students and adults praying and attending Mass together. I am giving back to God what He has given me - time and talent."

-- Linda Conkle, fourth/fifth grade teacher

"The small staff size allows you to get close-knit and know what is going on in the school. Also, being able to attend Mass twice a week."

-- Keri Welsch, third grade teacher

" Teaching in a Catholic school teaches you that the family is important and family comes first."

-- Tricia Ruckle, second grade teacher

"The best kids attend our school. This is a nurturing environment that makes it a super place to work and learn."

-- Jennifer Robins, 1st grade teacher

"There is a family atmosphere here. We get to celebrate the real reasons for Christmas and Easter."

-- Joann Hays, Kindergarten

"We are like a family we know everyone by name. By teaching Christian values, you see the older students look after the younger ones, working with them and learn to respect each other."

-- Marla Stucky, Preschool
