This past week, Catholic school students
and staff were busy preparing for Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 29-Feb. 4.
Over the next five days, students from across the diocese will be taking
part in events to celebrate a week created 32 years ago to honor Catholic
schools across the nation. The observance begins on the last Sunday in
January every year.
In preparation for the week (photos of
the week’s events will be included in the next issue), the SKR is
presenting a few of several photos sent in by each Catholic school in the
diocese of events that took place during the last year. While there was
only room for a few photos, all that were submitted will be included on
the SKR website, at www.dcdiocese.org/swkregister.
This year, the theme for Catholic Schools Week is:
"Catholic Schools: Character. Compassion. Values." National Appreciation
Day For Catholic Schools will be observed Wednesday, Feb. 1. Two other
highlights of the week are Vocation Appreciation Day on Feb. 2 and
National Appreciation Day For Catholic School Teachers, a tribute to the
163,000 Catholic educators, observed Feb. 3.
At left and right are various pictures of school events
taken throughout the year at the Catholic schools in the Diocese of Dodge
City. The next issue of the SKR, Feb. 12, will include photos from
Catholic Schools Week, taking place Jan. 29-Feb. 4. Those photos will also
appear on the website when it is next updated.
