Craig Evan Dunn, 53, of Sacred Heart Parish, Larned, died Dec. 11, 2007. He was a social worker for Larned Juvenile Correctional Facility. Survivors include his mother, Ruth Hoyt Dunn; a former spouse, Adele Dunn; a son, Evan Dunn; a daughter, Adie Dunn; and two sisters, Lori Amerin and Macel Caplinger. Father Bernard Felix presided.

Roland Gene Kottas, 61, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died Dec. 14, 2007. He worked at the Tyson Packing Plant, Holcomb. He served in the U.S. Navy. Survivors include a son, Joe; a daughter, Rae Lynn Kottas; three brothers, Roger, Mickey, and Pat; twin sisters, Karol Clayton and Kathy Withrow; and three grandchildren. Father Trong Tran presided.

Helen W. Mooney, 52, of Bushton, died Dec. 15, 2007. She worked as a caregiver for Bethagy in Ellsworth. Survivors include her mother, Marietta Bieberle Mooney; two brothers, Roy and Floy Mooney; a sister, Debbie Jimison; five nephews; five great-nephews; six great-nieces; and many uncles and aunts. Ramon Bazan, 67, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died Dec. 18, 2007. He was a farmer for Brookover Feed Yards for 26 years. He was a Eucharistic Minister and a fourth degree Knight of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Maria Concepcion Correa; three sons, Ramon Bazan Jr., Gerard Bazan, and Juan Antonio Bazan; two daughters, Nora Schultz and Lori Bazan; three brothers, Erasmo Bazan, Domingo Bazan, Jr., and Jorge Bazan; three sisters, Dora Barbosa, Dominga Bazan, and Alma Ordones; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Angela Hirsh, 94, of Sacred Heart Parish, Pratt, died Dec. 24, 2007. She was the former owner and operator of Dairy Queen, WaKeeney. She was a member of the Women’s Altar Society.  Bertha M. Haberman, 102, of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick, Great Bend, died Dec. 22, 2007. She was a member of the Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella.  Edwin Munsch, 85, of Sacred Heart Parish, Ness City, died Dec. 20, 2007. He was a farmer; he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Marina Suppes; a son, Michael D.; three daughters, Vicki Herrman, Betty Knoll, and Christy Healzer; five brothers, Lawrence, Harry, Jerry, LeRoy, and Robert; a sister, Wanita Reinert; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.  Luella M. Laufenberg, 90, of St. Nicholas Parish, Kinsley, died Dec. 17, 2007. She was a retired dairymen farmer. Survivors include two sons, Bill and Jim; a daughter, Linda Gumpenberger; a brother Elmer Hogan; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.  Father Nicanor Ferangco presided.

 Elizabeth Ann Woydziak, 78, of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Hoisington, died Dec. 23, 2007. She was a homemaker, and she belonged to the Altar Society. Survivors include two sons, Stephan Woydziak and David Woydziak; four daughters, Joyce Hanzlick, Judy McDonald, Connie Geiger, and Jeannie Komarek; a brother, Wilfred Wondra; a sister, Rita MacDonald; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  Bernard “Pete” Kramer, 76, of Mary Queen of Peace Parish, Ulysses, died Dec. 23, 2007. He worked for 30 years in operations at Cities Service Helex Plant both in Ulysses. He belonged to the Knight of Columbus, was a volunteer with the Grant County Fire Department for 44 years, and had served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Askari ARL-30 during the Korean war. He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Marge” Amerin; three sons, Robert “Bob” Kramer, John Kramer, and Tom Kramer; three daughters, Paula Alexander, Peggy Moore, and Penny Hilbig; a brother, Freddie Kramer; five sisters, LeAnn McDaniels, Phyllis Cahoon, Elaine Sechler, Bertie Madden, and Barbara Trent; 11 grandchildren; five step- grandchildren; and three step- great-grandchildren.  Thomas E. Chism, 79, of Immaculate Conception Parish, Claflin, died Dec. 25, 2007. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Keil; two daughters, Sabrina Suelter and Samantha Blevins; a brother, Joe Chism; two sisters, Patty Roehrman and Posey Coburn; a granddaughter; and two step-great-grandchildren.

 Tomas Rodriguez Molina, 70, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died Dec. 26, 2007. He was a farmer before moving to Ensign. He is survived by his wife, Irma Carrasco Quintana; three sons, Amador Alonso, Tomas Raul, and Gabriel Oscar Rodriguez; two daughters, Teresa de Jesus Rodriguez Carrasco, and Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez; two brothers, Julian Rodriguez and Gabriel Rodriguez; three sisters, Josefina Arviso Rodriguez, Evangelina Talavera Rodriguez, and Isabel Arviso Rodriguez; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren. Lila Myers, 93, of Prince of Peace Parish, Great Bend, died Dec. 1, 2007. She was a homemaker and former employee of the Singer Sewing Center. She belonged to the Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. Survivors include two sons, J. Kevin Hall and Brett G. Hall; two daughters, Rhonda J. Hall and Anita Dreiling Exline; six grandchildren; a step-grandchild; and 9 great-grandchildren.

Magdalene “Mac” Stegman Haslett, 84, of St. Raphael Parish, Syracuse, died Dec. 2, 2007. She was owner and operator of Offerle Restaurant, and was the first woman mayor of Syracuse. She belonged to the Altar Society. Survivors include three sons, Timothy, John, and Floyd W.; two daughters, Rebecca Jantz and Phyllis Horning; a sister, Regina Israel; a daughter-in-law; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Viola Mae Lahey, 91, of Mary Queen of Peace Parish, Ulysses, died Dec. 3, 2007. She taught at a country school in Stevens County. She lived on the farm until the late 1970s and then moved to Ulysses. Survivors include a sister, Kathryn Hudson; two nephews, Allen Piner and Gary Piner; and four nieces. Father James P. Dieker presided.

Anna Elizabeth Gutierrez, 98, of Holy Trinity Parish, Timken, died Dec. 10, 2007. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, John and Richard; two daughters, Ramona Keenan and Rita Ritter; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. Arsenio S. Mendoza, 90, of St. Anthony Parish, Liberal, died Dec. 9, 2007. He worked as an auditor for the City of Kansas City, Mo. Survivors include five sons, Arsenio Jr., Ted, Alex, Raul, and Bob; a daughter, Perlita Dutton; two brothers; two sisters, 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Father Tony Judge presided.

Jose Francisco Mendez, 69, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died Dec. 8, 2007. He worked for the railroad. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Torrez; a son, Ralph; a daughter, Elva Dominguez; three sisters, Asuncion Mendez, Maria Luisa Mendez, and Elva Velia Mendez; and four grandchildren. Don D. Hall, 71, of the Cathedral of Our Lady Of Guadalupe, died Nov. 15, 2007. He was a forklift operator for ADM Grain Products, retiring in 2000. He is survived by his wife, Edith Helfrich; a son, Tim; three daughters, Peggy Hacker, Kathy Isenbart and Tina Pingsterhaus; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.  Johanna Katherine Shumway, 88, of Sacred Heart Parish, Pratt, died Nov. 15, 2007. She belonged to the Women of Sacred Heart and the Hutchinson Fiddlers and Pickers Club. Survivors include two sons, Darrell and Leon; a daughter, Trevlyn Detmer; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.  Kenneth Marvin Drake, 88, of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick in Great Bend, died Nov. 21, 2007. He worked for Peters Drilling for 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Arlene Riebel; two sons, Robert and Wayne; a daughter, Janice Rosenholtz; a sister, Geraldine Smith; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.  Leonard G. Herrman, 93, a La Crosse resident who belonged to St. Joseph Parish, Liebenthal, died, Nov. 19, 2007. He was a farmer before his retirement. He was a member of the Knights Of Columbus Council No. 2340 and the St. Joseph’s choir. He is survived by his wife, Ann Geier; four daughters, Mary Catherine Brening, Ruth Siress, Elizabeth Richards, and Rebecca Joan Schmidt; four brothers, Paul Herrman, Father Gilbert Herrman, Ralph Herrman, and Edward Herrman; five sisters Esther Boxler, Isabel Basgall, Abbie Rupp, Ruth Risser, and Edna “Edie” Mehl; 11 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.  Linda E. Sanchez, 81, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died Nov. 20, 2007. She was a homemaker and was a dance instructor for the Dodge City Recreation Department and Dodge City Community College. She also served as a volunteer for Manor of the Plains. She is survived by her husband, Louis Tovar Sanchez; a son, Robert; three daughters, Linda Roush, Victoria Smith, and Dianne Sanchez; a sister, Connie Villareal; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  Lorena “Rene” R. Chvilicek, 90, of St. Joseph Parish, Scott City, died Nov. 20, 2007.   She was a homemaker.  Rita Pauline Herrmann, 80, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died Nov. 15, 2007. She was a homemaker, and a member of the Altar Society.  Roland L. “Bud” Littrell, 72, of St. Nicholas Parish, Kinsley, died Nov. 21, 2007. He was the former owner of Littrell Furniture, and was a former volunteer fireman. Survivors include his wife, Louise Strecker; three sons, Robert, Mark, and Terry; three daughters, Nellie Wells, Mary Summers, and Donna Galyardt; a sister, Carol Graves; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Issac Lee Garcia Jr. of Dodge City, infant son of Fatima Montes and Issac Garcia Sr., was stillborn Nov. 21, 2007. Survivors include his parents; three brothers, Carmine and Isaiah Miramontes, and Zavier Garcia; two sisters, Jordan Garcia and Natalie Garcia; and grandparents, Sonia and Alonzo Miramontes, and David and Dora Gonzalez. James R. Sobba, 47, of St. Anthony Parish, Fowler, died Nov. 25, 2007. He was a farmer and an avid sportsman and hunter. Carla Sue Detherage, of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose, Great Bend, died Nov. 18, 2007. She was the financial controller at Highland Hotels and Convention Center. William Raymond “Bill” Lauber, 65, of Leoti, died on Nov. 5, 2007. He retired in May 2007 from his job as chief engineer of the Wichita County Sanitary Landfill. Alberta Louise “Penny” Johnson, 68, of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick, Great Bend, died Nov. 9, 2007. She worked in inventory and quality control for the Fuller Brush Co. until retirement. She belonged to the Altar Society. Survivors include four sons, Bradley Eugene, David Scott, Michael Brian, and Mark Alan; a daughter, Natalie Ann Addison; a brother, Wayne King; two sisters, Helen Fink and Betty Goetz; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Alice Mae Irsik, 83, of St. Joan of Arc Parish, Elkhart, died Nov. 9, 2007. She was a cook for USD 218 until retiring. Survivors include three sons, Raymond E., Dennis A., and Anthony J. Jr.; seven daughters, Barbara J. Hamaker, Christina L. Ryan, Nancy K. Lutz, Rita A. Ridings, Mary M. Albert, Annette Y. Shilling, and Carmen J. Lawrence Nicholas Stoffel, 80, of Syracuse, died Nov. 10, 2007. He worked as a lineman for Wheatland Electric for 40 years. He was a volunteer fireman for the Hamilton County Fire Department, and had served in the military during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Wreatha Mae Woodley; two sons, Eugene L. and Richard W.; three daughters, Janice L. Remick, Marilyn K. Hoskins, and Jo Anne Hurd; two brothers, Raymond and Eugene; two sisters, Leona Myers and Eleanor Pharr; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Marie Schmitt, 94, of Hoisington, died Nov. 14, 2007. She was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Offerle, and Sacred Heart Cathedral and Daughters of Isabella, both at Dodge City. She was an organist at both churches and was a volunteer at Birthright. Survivors include a son, Anthony “Tony”; two daughters, Linda Mayhugh and Chris Hayes; a brother, Edward F.
