Manuela Rodriquez, 76, of St. Anthony of Padua Parish, Leoti, died May 28, 2007. He also worked at Miller Cafe and was a housekeeper. Survivors include seven sons, Cornelio Vallejo, Joe Vallejo, Sam Vallejo, Juan Vallejo, Mario Vallejo, David Vallejo, and Checko Vallejo; seven stepsons, Johnny, David, Pete, Paul, Mike, Freddie and Gary Rodriquez; one daughter, Ortensia Gonzales; a stepdaughter, Theresa Rodriquez,; two brothers, Antonio Gonzales and Cruz Gonzales; two sisters, Venita Martinez and Semona De Vero; 37 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; and 15 step-great-grandchildren.  Father Benjamin Martin presided.

Alejandro Enriquez-Duarte, 69, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died May 25, 2007. He was a farmer. He is survived by his wife, Marina Molina; four sons, Hector, Miguel, Alejandro, and Augustin; one daughter, Lucila; two brothers, Ramiro and Hector; one sister, Eustolia; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Michael Franklin “Mike” Vink, 61, of Prince of Peace Parish, St. Rose of Lima, died May 29, 2007. He was a member of the family-owned business, OPI Inc. at Central Kansas Medical Center. Survivors include his mother, Marcella Zecha Vink; three brothers, Craig, Terry, and Kenny; a sister, Kathy Berkley; and many nieces and nephews. Father Wesley Schawe presided.

Paul W. Stegman, 85, of Sacred Heart Parish, Larned, died May 30, 2007. He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Fagen; two sons, Joseph and Thomas,; three daughters, Mary Libby, Paula Anne, and Rebecca Cain; a brother, Larry; four sisters, Irene Franklin, Marie Williams, Lucille McComas, and Ruth Ann Wasco; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Agnes Mary Palkowitsh, 90, of St. Joseph Parish, Scott City, died May 31, 2007. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, Garden City. Survivors include five sons, Joe, Jerome, Raymond, Charles, and Larry; a daughter, Louise Wright; a sister, Irene Carman; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mary Alice Smith, 65, of Sacred Heart Parish, Pratt, died May 31, 2007. She was a secretary and real estate associate for the Scott and Hodges Co., and had owned a dance studio for 18 years, and helped choreograph the Miss Kansas pageant for many years. She is survived by her husband, Ron Smith; two daughters, Angela Spellman and Robin Van Hove; two brothers, Terry and Mickey Higgins; a sister, Louise Pumphrey; and three grandchildren. Thomas Stephen Downey, 61, a Ford resident who belonged to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died June 1, 2007. He worked in the cattle industry much of his life before becoming the yard foreman at Ford County Feed Yard. He is survived by his wife, Leola Stateler; two sons, Stephen and Rick; two daughters, Marca Berger and Mendy McGregor; three brothers, Brother David, Jerry, and Tim; three sisters, Norma Jean O’Brien, Kathleen Konda, and Doris Downey; five grandsons; and two granddaughters. Irene M. Burghart, 92, of St. Joseph Parish, Offerle, died June 3, 2007. Survivors include nine sons, Tony, Maurice, Elmer, Bernie, Dennis, Vince, Ken, Tim, and Vern; three daughters, Jeannette Lininger, Theresa Tierney, and Alicia Anderson; three brothers, Dan Schriner, Herb Schriner, and Joe Schriner; two sisters, Helen Schwarzenberger and Adeline Saia; 32 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.  Fathers Nicanor Ferangco, Michael Liebl and Earl Befort presided.

Raymond C. Hermes, 86, of St. Joseph Parish, Scott City, died June 3, 2007. He was the owner and operator of Hermes Jewelry for 30 years before retiring, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include six brothers, Eugene, Clarence, Jerome, Bishop Herbert, Norbert, and Gerald Hermes; and one sister, Lucilla Herman. Father Warren Stecklein presided.

Arnold R. Kamphaus, 73, of St. Nicholas Parish, Kinsley, died June 5, 2007. He was a KDOT Engineer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a St. Nicholas Endowment Fund board member. He is survived by his wife, Pauline F. Mages; two sons, Doug Stanton and Kevin; five daughters, Jana Baxter, Kimberly, Brenda Powell, D’Ann, and Lisa Crockett; one brother, George; one sister, Larue Robinson; 18 grandchildren; and two great -grandchildren.  Father Thomas Welk presided.

William “Bill” J. Schartz, 90, of Sacred Heart Parish, Larned, died June 8, 2007. He owned and operated a farm. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Northart, with whom he recently celebrated their 70th anniversary; two sons, LeRoy William and Daniel Jerome; one daughter, Patricia A. Thompson; one brother, Mark L.; one sister, Wilma Zeigler; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Father Bernard Felix presided.
