Betty JoAnn Hoss, 73, of Prince of Peace Parish, Great  Bend, died May 13, 2007. She was a registered nurse at St. Rose Hospital, Central Kansas Medical Center, retiring in 1989. She is survived by her husband, Phillip “Flip” Hoss; a son, Charles; two daughters, Jolene Scholl and Cathy Crews; two brothers, Jim and Dave Myers; and seven grandchildren. Father Wesley Schawe presided.

Lawrence F. Rausch, 67, of St. Boniface Parish, Sharon, died May 12, 2007. He served in the Army and Navy reserves. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn S. Smith; one son, Lawrence; three daughters, Tammy, Yvonne Benward, and Sandra Leis; two brothers, Cletus and Delmar; and nine grandchildren. Father John Strasser presided.

Velma M. Liebl, 84, of St. Joseph Parish, Offerle, died May 14, 2007. A longtime Offerle resident, she was a homemaker. Survivors include three sons, Father Michael Liebl (Mount Michael Abbey, Elkhorn, Neb), Carl A., and Peter; two daughters, Laurie Kistler and Lynda Burghart; a brother, John H. Tasset; 10 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Fathers Nicanor Fernangco and Michael Liebl presided.

Norman Andrew Hoffman, 88, of Prince of Peace Parish, Great Bend, died May 20, 2007. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 32nd Infantry Division in the Pacific. He was the owner and operator of Hoffman’s Hobby Shop of Russell. He is survived by his wife, Mary Hazel Phillips Donovan; a son, Dennis Hoffman; a stepson, Sherman Donovan; a daughter, Kaye Barnes; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Martin Pius Zerr, 76, of St. Dominic Parish, Garden City, died May 20, 2007. He was in the Army and served during the Korean war. He was a member of Knights of Columbus. He married Rita Burkhart and is survived by two sons, Steve and Mike; six daughters, Tina Powell, Kathy Roberts, Carol Wigner, Martha Naab, Mary Gaul, and Suzanne Oakley; a brother, Ludwig; two sisters, Helen Urban and Josephine Tatro; and nine grandchildren. Father Joseph Bahr presided.

Helen A. Matal, 92, of Holy Trinity Parish, Timken, died May 19, 2007. She was a homemaker and she also worked part time at the post office, Timken. Father Rene Labrador presided.

Edna M. Green, 95, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died May 28, 2007. She was a homemaker. Survivors include four sons, including Richard, Dwight, and Mark; five daughters, including Kathy Stegman, Kay Schmitt, and Jan Starks; a brother; two sisters; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Father Ted A. Skalsky presided.
