DODGE CITY - Light of Christ religious medals were presented to two cub scouts from Pack 162 by Father Angel Dy during the year-end pack meeting at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe social center May 10. The recipients were Ralph Hernandez and Thomas George. The purpose of the Light of Christ program is to help the scouts develop a personal relationship with Jesus, and see him as a real person and friend. Father Dy also presented the Joyful Mysteries Rosary Patch to 38 scouts and adult leaders. The Rosary Patch series is a religious activity recently introduced by the National Catholic Committee on Scouting. Each year for the next four years a patch will be available on a specific set of mysteries. The order in which the patches will be issued is: Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, Glorious. The Scouts from Pack 162 participated in a Cub Scout Rosary Hour on Monday, April 5 of Holy Week. Sister Rose Mary Stein, O.P., pastoral minister at the parish, gave a presentation that included historic background on the practice and devotion of reciting the Rosary. Adult leaders read specific Scripture readings addressing the Annunciation, Visitation, Nativity, Presentation, and Finding in the Temple. After taking a short written quiz, those gathered recited the Rosary using the Joyful Mysteries. |
