Birthdays of George Washington and Dr. Seuss

celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral School

At left, Tim Wenzl of the Southwest Kansas Register staff celebrated Dr. Seuss’s 100th Birthday in style. Dressed in his Cat in the Hat pajamas, he read two of Theodore Giessel’s books to Mrs. Milton’s kindergarten class at Sacred Heart Cathedral School. "I had to change clothes after the reading," said Wenzl. "An orange Snoo had been following me around most of the morning."

The third graders at Sacred Heart Cathedral School staged a play entitled "Happy Birthday General Washington," on March 4 in the library. The play, under the direction of Nancy Tarwater, tells the story of the difficulty of the soldiers at Valley Forge and the hopeful sign for victory they received on Feb. 22, 1778.
