‘Journey to Conversion’ retreats draw 120 participants

Participants “give up their sins” and ask the Lord’s blessing by putting a strip of material on the altar (part of the Lazarus scripture).

Participants work through a sharing exercise.

The 2007 RCIA Retreats at Heartland Center in Great Bend (Feb. 10) and the Cathedral in Dodge City (Feb. 17) attracted 120 participants.
With the theme “Journey To Conversion,” activities included the reflection on the three RCIA scrutiny readings: The Samaritan Woman (John 4:5-42), The Man Born Blind (John 9:1-41) and Raising Lazarus (John 11:1-45).
Sister Renee Dreiling, OP and Sister Jolene Geier, OP, from the Dominican Sisters of Great Bend, directed the 61 English-speaking participants, and the 59 Spanish-speaking participants were led by Sister Matilde Monterroso, MCMI, from the Satanta parish.
“The insight gained from reflecting and sharing with others helps to show how God is working in our lives,” said one of the participants. Another said, “This retreat allowed me to be more open and reflect on my journey of faith.”
“It made me think of things that are standing in the way of me deepening my relationship with God,” commented a third participant.
The 2008 RCIA retreats will be January 26th in Great Bend and Feb. 2nd in Dodge City, with the Spanish-speaking retreat in Dodge City only.
