Obituaries

Isabel Frick, 96, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died March 3, 2006. She worked for 32 years as a housekeeper for the priests of St. Mary Catholic Church, Garden City. She belonged to the Daughters of Isabella. Survivors include a son, Robert Frick; a brother, Jack Linenberger; a sister, Sister Celeste Linenberger; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Father Carlos Garcia Pena presided.

Robert A. Rupp, 82, of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Hoisington, died March 5, 2006. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a sister, Lillian Foster; a brother, Melvin Rupp; and numerous nephews and nieces. Father Pascal Klein presided.

Dolores S. "Lola" Ortiz, 71, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died March 5, 2006. Survivors include her husband, Juan Ortiz; nine sons, Henry, Samuel, Armando, Robert, Dennis, Richard, John, Raul and Herman Ortiz; a daughter, Susan Ortiz; 39 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two uncles; and several nephews and nieces. Lillian Margueritte "Margie" Doherty, 91, of St. Rose Parish, Great Bend, died March 7, 2006, at Villa Maria, Mulvane. She belonged to the Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. Survivors include three sons, Bernie, Michael, and Daniel Doherty; four daughters, Chris Mohn, Katherine Sanford, Paula Slone, and Susan Beck; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Father Reggie Urban presided.

Robert F. "Bob" Schenk, 79, of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Hoisington, died March 8, 2006. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2100, Olmitz, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Mildred (Ludington Helt Daniel); three stepdaughters, Martha Haberman, Jacque Byers and Susie Strosnider; three brothers, Harold, Bernard, and Edwin; 11 step-grandchildren; and 29 step-great-grandchildren. Lorraine Helen Serpan, 78, of Holy Trinity Parish, Timken, died March 9, 2006. She belonged to the St. Ann’s Altar Society. She is survived by her husband, Emil Edward Serpan; a daughter, Carol Bieber; two sisters, Magdalene "Peggy" Olson and Jane Behr; two grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. Father Ultan Murphy presided.

Leo Paul Thielen, 73, of St. Joseph Parish, Ashland, died March 12, 2006. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and had served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include a son, Donald E.; a daughter, Catherine C. Brown; a brother, Francis; two sisters, Marjorie Thielen and Mary Tucker; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild; and a companion, Shirley Stinson. Father Maurice Cummings presided.

Michael "Mike" J. Rupp, 89, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died March 12, 2006. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Ermina (Brungardt); three sons, Melvin, James, and Ralph; five daughters, Eileen Doak, Evelyn Betts, Alice Walsh, Janice Burling, and Marilyn Buhr; two brothers, Paul and Adam; four sisters, Mary Eggers, Julia Stoecklein, Rita Riebel, and Elvira Billinger; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Louise Bohn, 72, of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Ellin-wood, died March 13, 2006. Survivors include two sons, Fred Daniel and John Raymond; three daughters, Karolyn Kay Stevenson, Marilyn Faye Little, and Frances Arlene Rome; five brothers; two sisters; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Helen J. Menzer, 90, of St. Ann Parish, Olmitz, died March 16. She belonged to St. Ann Altar Society. Survivors include a son, Donald D.; two grandchildren, Cynthia Menzer-Jones and Michelle Oesterreicher; and three great-grandchildren. Father Ultan Murphy presided.

Juan Rincon Jr., 85, of St. Nicholas Parish, Kinsley, died March 18, 2006. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7349 and the Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Agripina (Falcon); seven sons, Manuel, John, Larry, Nicholas, Robert, William, and Samuel; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren. Father Nicanor Ferangco presided.

Agnes Louise Condit, 88, of Great Bend, died March 15, 2006. Survivors include four sons; two daughters; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Father Ted Stoecklein presided.

Irene Marie Herman, 79, of Sacred Heart Parish, Ness City, died March 18, 2006. She belonged to the Altar Society.
