Lucille Schartz, 89, of Mary Queen of Peace Parish, Ulysses, died April 26, 2008. She was a member of the altar society, and had worked as a farmer, rancher, and as a waitress at several establishments. Survivors include daughters, Loretta Stever, Sheila Fuhrmann, and Joycelyn Wickwar; sister, Fredia Harrel; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Loretta Mary Spencer, 91, of St. Boniface Parish, Sharon, died April 28, 2008. Survivors include sons, Vaughn, Louis, Mark, and George; daughters, Lori Hodges, Marcia Dodson, and Barbara Oller; sisters, Agnes Eck, Ann Bohrer, Sr. Vincetta Traffas, Mary Depenbusch, and Birdie Mans; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Bertrand T. Rueb, 77, of St. Andrew Parish, Wright, died May 1, 2008. Survivors include his brother, Francis Rueb; sister-in-law, Vangie Rueb; 28 nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and nephews. Father Robert A. Schremmer presided.

Kenneth J. Strecker, 51, of St. John the Baptist Parish, Spearville, died April 30, 2008. He was a lifetime Spearville resident and plant manager for Crust Buster / Speed King at Spearville facility. Survivors include his wife, Sharon Kay Taylor; one daughter, Christy Taber; four brothers, Joe, Henry, Melvin, and Ron; three sisters, Rita, Beverly, and Theresa; and three grandchildren. Father Ted Stoecklein presided.

Methvyn Sheehy, 92, of St. Mary Parish, Garden City, died May 1, 2008. Survivors include sons, Terrance, John P. Jr., and Tom; daughters, Sharon Hedges, Marilyn Sweangen, Lillian Valenzuela, and Linda Moore; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

 Lucy Anna Heinz, 96, of Immaculate Conception Parish, Claflin, died May 2, 2008. She was a homemaker and worked in farming. Survivors include her cousins.

Eleanor Marie Hickel, 85, of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima, Great Bend, died May 6, 2008. Survivors include daughters, Joyce Teichmann and Karen Hatfield; brothers, Leonard, Elmer, Alvin, Edwin and Gerald Zorn; sisters, Matilda Schremmer, Ann Schremmer, Marion Schroeder and Helen Holliday; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Aloysius Leo Leiker, 85, of Sacred Heart Parish, Ness City, died May 4, 2008. He had been a real estate broker for many years in Los Angeles, Calif. He had been a resident of Ness City since 1992. Survivors include two sisters, Coletta Luetters, Ransom, and Martina Farrington. Father Henry Hildebrandt presided.

Christina M. Gerritzen, 88, of Holy Family Parish, Odin, died May 7, 2008. Survivors include a brother, William Langenweld; sisters, Lies Brands and Gertrude Nauts; and nieces and nephews. Father Dwight Birket presided.
