St. Alphonsus 2006 CCD earned the first place ribbon in the church division as well as 50 "Satanta Bucks" in this year’s Satanta Day Parade. The 2006 parade theme was "Fables, Fairy Tales and Folklore." The St. Alphonsus float theme was "God’s Promise Is No Fairy Tale."

The float was a portrayal of "Noah’s Ark," in which the ark appeared beached under the rainbow representing God’s promise. The front of the float boasted the dove holding the olive branch.

Lisette Molina made banners for each side of the float that displayed the theme. Aboard the ark were: Cesar Macias and Natalia Gonzalez as cats, Krystian Rios and Rachel Barajas as lions, Wiley Stanfill and Kate Barajas as tigers, Jose and Daisy Quezada as raccoons, Paige Stanfill and Sadie Barajas as zebras, Trathen Stanfill and Valery Caro as alligators, Vanessa Caro and Clarisa Najera as giraffes, Gillian Rios and Adolfo Najera as bears, Jaxon Rios and Alex Barajas as frogs, Joshua Ramirez and Jocelyne Mendoza as wolves, Michelle Galindo as the elephant.

Each child chose an animal and "two by two" with the help of their mothers, made imaginative and creative masks, while their fathers built the float and made it safe for the children to travel on.

Stu Emmert’s Automotive graciously loaned the CCD an 18-foot trailer on which to build the float and a 2005 Chevy 4x4 to pull it in the parade. Amedt Barajas, paint and body specialist at the Stu Emmert’s Body Shop, drove in the parade.

Sibyl Barajas and Tara Cordova would like to thank Sister Matilda Monterroso for her overwhelming support and for giving them the opportunity to have such a great time. They would also like to thank God for the great bunch of kids and parents who donated their time and effort to this project and for granting us the first place ribbon.
