Obituaries

   Ronald Joseph Prosser, 59, of Prince of Peace Parish, Great Bend, died April 18, 2007. He worked for Barton County Road and Bridge, mowing ditches in summer and clearing snow in the winter.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife, Mauricia Lea “Mish” Day; two sons, Doug and Mark; a daughter, Kristen Walker; two sisters, Judy Johnson and Mary Jo Radcliff. Father Marvin Reif presided.

Phu Dau, 78, of St. Dominic Parish, Garden City, died April 21, 2007. He co-owned and operated Kim’s Liquor Store. He is survived by his wife, Kim Do; three sons, Mark, Scott, and Mitch Young; and three grandchildren. Father Trong Tran presided.

Socorro Vega-Carrasco, 75, of St. Anthony Parish, Liberal, died April 21, 2007. Survivors include two sons, Ramon and Miguel Angel; three daughters, Martina Carrasco, Rosa Aragon, and Maria Nieto; a brother, Natalio Vega; a sister, Romona Vega; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Father John Fahey-Guerra presided.

Roland Paris Myers, 94, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died April 22, 2007. He worked as a baggage man for the Santa Fe Railroad before being employed as custodian at USD 443, Dodge City, until his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Anna Mary Novack; four sons, Donald, Ken, Leslie, and Michael; two daughters, Mary Ann Grable and Shirley Keith; 27 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Father Trong Tran presided.

Juan L. Torrez, 84, of St. John the Evangelist Parish, Hoisington, died April 21, 2007. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1521. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II. Survivors include a son, Mike; two daughters, Toni Bynum and Cindy Tuzicka; two brothers, John and Jesse; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Father Pascal Klein presided.

Rita L. Maturey, 78, of St. Alphonsus Parish, Satanta, died April 24, 2007. She was a member of the Altar Society. Survivors include her husband, E. Maturey; three sons, Domingo, Junior, and Steve; two daughters, Jo Silva and Chris Davis; two brothers, E.P. Limon and Lupe Limon; a sister, Fela Nerio; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Father Anthony Suellentrop presided.

Henry L. Lichter, 82, of St. Ann Parish, Omitz, died April 27, 2007. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2100. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Survivors include two brothers, Alvin and Marvin; and two sisters, Rosemary Linn and Mary Evelyn Linenberger. Father Ultan Murphy presided.

Sharon L. Clemons, 46, of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Dodge City, died in rural Finney County. She had worked for the city of Dodge City, and Big A Auto Parts. Survivors include her mother, Flora C. Schmidt Ricke; her husband, Ray Clemons; a son, Seth Gingerich; a daughter, Sheena Gingerich; four brothers, Allan, Gary, Cletus, and Myron Ricke; four sisters, Ellen Olivier, Dianne Durler, Kay Herrmann, and Annette Burkhart; and two grandchildren. Father Robert Schremmer presided.

Karen J. Soupiset, 59, of St. Joan of Arc Parish, Elkhart, died April 27, 2007. She was a third-grade teacher for over 20 years in the Elkhart School District. She belonged to the Catholic Women’s Circle. She is survived by her husband, Donald Soupiset; a son, Kevyn; two daughters, Kendra Schroeder and Angela Murray; and four grandchildren. Father Francis Khoi Nguyen presided.
