The sixth annual wine tasting event to benefit Catholic Social Service raised approximately $22,500. Event organizer Shirley Lytle of the CSS Great Bend office was pleased with the outcome, as this year’s total increased by nearly $7,000 the funds raised from last year’s event. Approximately 250 people from as far away as Wichita attended the tasting, including a busload of employees from the Catholic Chancery in Dodge City. Included was an auction of wine memorabilia and other items. An original painting by Great Bend artist Paula Jones was auctioned for $685. Lytle, who is retiring in July, was honored at the wine tasting for her years of service.
Attending the wine tasting event are (from top): Father Marvin Reif and Becky and Steve Hessman; Jane and Steve Stein, and Joe and Susan Curtis; Father Ted Stoecklein and Mike Stein; event organizer Shirley Lytle, who holds a bottle with her picture on the label; and Catholic Social Service Executive Director Debbie Snapp, and CSS social worker, Amy Falcon. The wine bottle was a gift to Lytle, who is soon retiring from the Catholic Social Service Great Bend office.
