Women of Sacred Heart, Pratt, to present annual Turkey Dinner Nov. 12

The Women of Sacred Heart Parish are holding their annual Turkey Dinner Nov. 12 at Sacred Heart School Hall, 330 N. Oak, Pratt, from Noon-2 p.m. The menu will include turkey, dressing, potatoes, gravy, vegetables, hot rolls and homemade pies or desserts.

The price for a dinner is as follows: Adults, $6; 6-9 years old, $3; and 5 years and younger will eat free. Carry-out meals are available by calling (620) 672-3687 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Delivery within the city limits will be made by the youth of the confirmation class.

Included with the dinner will be a raffle, country store with a silent auction of gift baskets; craft and baked food items will be available for purchase. Many of the gift baskets can make Christmas presents for family and friends. Smaller baskets will be available for children to purchase.

Women’s C of C taking funding requests

The Community Service Committee of the Area Women’s Chamber of Commerce, Inc., is accepting requests from non-profit organizations for the distribution of funds raised through their 2006 rodeo food concession booth efforts.

The requests should include the purpose of the organization, the specific use for the funds, the dollar amount requested and a contact person’s name, address and phone number.

2007 RCIA Retreat:

‘Journeys to Conversion’

Cost: $50 per parish and $15 per person or $30 per person. (Lunch charge is included and family fees negotiable)

This retreat is a time of reflection and prayer with others who are also engaged in the RCIA program. It is designed as a preparation for the Lenten scrutinies but not intended to replace the scrutiny process in the parish. This RCIA retreat is for catechumens, candidates, sponsors and teams as part of the recommended RCIA formation process for the diocese. Both retreats will be divided into English and Spanish groups.

SpiritLife: A Spiritual Formation Process

On Nov. 18, from 8:30 a.m.-3:15 p.m. the SpiritLife Spiritual Formation Process will be held at Heartland Center for Spirituality, 3600 Broadway Great Bend. The topics and instructors for the day include:

9:30 a.m. Wounded Human Nature;

Instructor: Phil St. Roman, M. Div

"Sin/non-love has wounded us all, and has catalyzed the development of a false-self system that sabotages our growth in many ways. We will examine some of these ways and the dysfunctional dynamics that perpetuate them."

10:55 Twelve Steps of Alcoholic Anonymous;

Instructor: Renee Dreiling

"The 12 steps of recovery for alcoholics have been proven to be simple and yet effective ways to overcome numerous problems in current society. The program principles provide basic helps in learning to pray, in deepening healthy relationships, in finding serenity during chaotic periods of life. Learning to live these principles brings freedom, happiness and deep peace."

12:50 p.m. Spiritual Formation Group; a time to process what’s been happening in classes; sharing one’s journey; inquiry and feedback.

2:15 p.m. Working with the Twelve Steps;

"We will discover practical ways to apply some of the 12 step principles in our lives."

Theme: Sabbath of the Liturgical Year

Presenter: Sister Janice Grochowsky, CSJ

"The season of Advent, just as the Sabbath day, is meant to be anything but ‘business as usual.’ Come join Sister Janice as she ponders some of the mysteries of this season of preparation and waiting."

Sister Janice is a Sister of St. Joseph of Wichita currently ministering as Director of the Marriage Tribunal and Chancellor for the Diocese of Dodge City. She is a member of St. Andrew Parish in Wright and serves on its Liturgy and Vocation Commissions and is involved with music ministry.

Fee: $10 for the day; $6.00 per meal; register before Nov. 30 for meals.
