Turkey dinner at Sacred Heart, Pratt
PRATT—The Women of Sacred Heart will host the annual parish Turkey Dinner and Country Store on Sunday, Nov. 9, from Noon to 2 p.m., in the school cafeteria.
Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children nine and under. Take out dinners are available by calling the school cafeteria at (620) 672-3687 between 9 and 11 a.m. Deliveries begin at 11:30 a.m.
A drawing will be held following the dinner. Ticket holders need not be present to win.
Optimist Club Essay Contest
"
Being the Best I Can Be" is the topic for an essay contest sponsored by Optimist International and the Optimist Club of Dodge City, with a deadline of Dec. 23 for submitting entries. Area high school students at the sophomore, junior and senior levels are eligible to participate and to compete for scholarships totaling $10,000. The Dodge City Optimist Club will select a first, second and third place winner from area entries. The first place winner will receive a $100 scholarship, and the winning essay will be entered into district competition to be judged against entries submitted throughout the state. The district winner will receive a $650 scholarship and will be eligible to compete at the international level for scholarships totaling $10,000. Finding God Amid the Noise

It is often difficult to find the deep peace of contemplative prayer in today’s busy world. There are ways in which the active lay person can experience and celebrate God’s presence. With this in mind, some simple and quick techniques of centering oneself and deepening prayer will be explored. Trigger Point Therapy

Cost is $50 (includes $20 manual).
For those suffering from headaches, muscle and joint pain, numbness and tingling in their extremities, this self-help therapy may offer relief in a short amount of time. This workshop will explain Trigger Point Therapy and provide hands-on experience in treating oneself and others. Each participant will need a manual.
