Dodge City’s Life Chain set for today
Area Christians will come together for an hour of prayer and to make a visible statement in support of the rights of the unborn on Respect Life Sunday, today, Oct. 1, when they form a Life Chain on North 14
th in Dodge City from 2 to 3 p.m. Participants can pick up a prolife/prayer sign in the parking area of the First Assembly of God Church at 2301 N. 14th. This will be one of more than 80 Life Chains held in Kansas today. The Life Chain is sponsored by Southwest Kansans for Life and Dodge City Right to Life.Oktoberfest, Oct. 14, Kinsley
St. Nicholas Parish in Kinsley is sponsoring an Oktoberfest celebration, Saturday, Oct. 14 in Kinsley, from 6 p.m. – Midnight, and will include dinner, a beer garden, games, a $500 cash drawing, costume contest, and dance. For more information, see the article on Page 9.
Ashland Knights host Tri-Exemplification
Knights of Columbus Council 12016 of Ashland will host an exemplification for 1
st, 2nd and 3rd degree at the St. Joseph Parish Hall on Oct. 29, according to Grand Knight Robert Krier. The 1st degree will start at 12:30 p.m. followed by second and third degrees.Mass will be in St. Joseph’s Church at 10:30 a.m., for those wishing to attend. The Father John Handly 4
th Degree Assembly of Dodge City will be attending Mass.This is the only exemplification scheduled in the area this fall. Grand Knights are encouraged to recruit new members and complete the degree work. For more information, contact Jim Hensley at (620) 635-2530.
Retreat for separated, widowed or divorced Oct. 20-22
Those who have suffered the loss of a love one through separation, divorce or death can find healing and comfort on a retreat especially designed to help one through the grieving process.
The loss can be one of life’s most traumatic experiences. It can result in nearly unbearable feelings of loneliness and grief. The retreat offers the opportunity to move forward toward a new beginning in life with renewed hope and energy.
The Beginning Experience Retreat is a weekend program to help grieving, single-again persons move from the darkness of grief into the light of a new beginning.
