Father John Lavrih, who died August 12, was laid to
rest on Tuesday, Sept. 13 in
his home village of Sticni, Slovenia. The funeral Mass was held in the
parish church of St. Vid at 4 p.m. Archbishop Alojzij Uran presided at the
funeral with approximately 20 diocesan priests in attendance. Father Jim
Dieker of the Diocese of Dodge City, along with Father Lavrih’s nephew,
Father Rafco Kralj, were main concelebrants for the funeral Mass. Friends
of the family and local parishioners filled the Church. Father Lavrih was
buried in the cemetery that surrounds the church in the section reserved
for the clergy. His mother, father and sister are also buried in the
cemetery. A national Slovenian hymn was sung by a male choir led by
Father’s great-nephew at the graveside.
