Benedictine Abbot, Redemptorist Superior General to speak at Diocesan Scripture Day Oct. 27

Abbot Gregory Polan, OSB, from Conception Abbey, Conception, Mo.,and The Very Reverend Joseph Tobin, C.Ss.R., from the RedemptoristGeneralate in Rome will be the conference speakers at "Lectio Divina: Prayerful Reading of the Scripture," scheduled for Oct. 27 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Abbot Polan will address the English-speaking; Father Tobin will address the Spanish-speaking.

Abbot Polan is diocesan representative for ecumenical and inter-religious affairs for the Diocese of Kansas City –– St. Joseph. He serves on the editorial board of "The Bible Today."

Father Tobin has served communities of Hispanic immigrants in both urban and rural areas. His pastoral experience includes parish ministry, retreat preaching for youth and adults, Cursillos de Cristiandad and advocacy for peace, justice and the integrity of creation.

The conference will take place on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 9:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 3231 N. 14th, Dodge City. Participants should bring a Bible to the conference.
