Dominican Sister Mary Barbara (Monica) Keiser, a former parishioner at St. George, Bucklin, and Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dodge City, was among 10 young women who made their perpetual profession of the simple vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience Aug. 8 as Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia Congregation in Nashville, Tenn. Sister Mary Barbara is the daughter of Fred and Linda Keiser, and the late Barbara Keiser, members of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Wichita. Her father served the Diocese of Dodge City as director of the Office of Youth Ministry from 1977 to 1990. Her brothers, Father Matthew (Kevin) and Father Dominic (Geoffrey) belong to the Norbertine Order in Orange County, California, and Brother Frederick is studying with the Legionaries of Christ in Center Harbor, NH. Another brother, Anthony, is a senior at St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, Okla., while Jesse, Colin, and Hayley live at home and are home-schooled. A graduate of Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Wichita and Aquinas College in Nashville, Sister Mary Barbara is currently teaching junior high religion at Over-brook Catholic School in Nashville. The Sisters of St. Cecilia are dedicated to the apostolate of Catholic education. They teach in 29 schools throughout the United States.
