Diocese of Dodge City Youth Council

Goals and Objectives

Goal 1: To trust in the Holy Spirit through prayer and discernment.

Objectives:

  • Spend time in prayer daily asking for guidance from the Holy Spirit as we lead the youth of the diocese. Don’t be anxious about anything.  Present your needs to God in every form of prayer and petition, with thanksgiving.  --  Philippians 4:6

Goal 2: To develop youth ministry on the parish and deanery levels.

Objectives:

  • Work with the diocesan director in establishing youth ministry programs in the parishes by:
    • Helping implement the Eight Components of Youth Ministry as brought forth in “Renewing the Vision-A-Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry”.
The Eight Components of Youth Ministry
1)   Advocacy
Allows the voices of young people to be honored and heard in the Church.
2)   Catechesis
Helps increase the knowledge of the core content of the Catholic Faith.
3)   Community Life
Builds an environment of love, support and appreciation that models Catholic principles.
4)   Evangelization
Shares the good news of the reign of God and invites young people into a deeper relationship with Christ.
5)   Justice & Service
Empowers young people to a life of justice and service by taking steps which address the causes of human suffering.
6)   Leadership Development
Calls forth, affirms and empowers the diverse gifts, talents and abilities of young people.
7)   Pastoral Care
Nurtures growth toward wholeness, provides guidance in decision making and challenges obstacles to positive development.
8)   Prayer and Worship
Celebrates and deepens young people’s relationship with Jesus Christ through the bestowal of grace, communal prayer and liturgical experiences.

    • Assist in delivering information to parishes.
  • Work with diocesan director with parish cluster activities by:

    • Delivering information regarding diocesan events to parish youth leaders.
    • Work to promote greater participation in diocesan events
  • Serve as a minister to the youth by:
    • Working with your peers to increase their enthusiasm and desire to become more active Catholic Christians.
    • Reaching out to young people, their families, and the community.
Goal 4: To assist in planning, implementing and evaluating diocesan, state and and national events.

    • Voicing the desires, ideas and suggestions of the youth.
