Originally, Sacred Heart School was converted from the first church into a two-room school. The forty eight children that attended the school were taught by the Sisters of St. Joseph from Wichita. Construction of the present Sacred Heart / Holy Child School building was completed in November 1961.
Academically and Spiritually, Sacred Heart is moving into the 21st century. With the adoption of the Common Core Curriculum, and by integrating the gospel values of our Catholic faith, we continue to educate our students in the Catholic tradition established by the Church long ago.
Technology is a vital ingredient in the educational process today. Sacred Heart is moving forward by providing interactive whiteboards in each of the classrooms. Each teacher has access to the tools kids learn by today in our society. Our teachers can now focus more on the art of teaching, and our students can concentrate more on learning.
Our mission statement: Sacred Heart School will create a Christian atmosphere for learning fundamental skills, acquiring knowledge and developing spiritual, responsible, independent, and innovative students who respect the dignity of life.”
