May Monthly Notes

Monthly Notes from Bishop Gilmore
and the Diocesan Staff
May 2009 --- Vol. 7, No. 4
From Bishop Gilmore:

You are invited to a come-and-go reception at the Chancery, 2:30-4:30pm, Tuesday, 26 May to bid farewell, offer thanks, and wish Godspeed to Pam Polley, Ann Depperschmidt and Sister Gemma Doll.

►Please ask your DREs to plan to participate in our annual June 1st DRE Day, 10:00am to 3:00pm, Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, St. Augustine/St. Monica Rooms.  Coleen Stein has sent out various email notices.  This Day has been very well received over the past few years.  DREs have shared that coming year after year still helps them know in advance many of the good things that lay ahead for another year of religious formation.  Know that priests and Parish Life Coordinators are most welcome.  For further information, please contact Coleen Stein, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or 620-227-1538.

►Liebenhaus of Prayer in Liebenthal will soon close.  Having offered this resource for contemplation and renewal for a number of years, the Dominican Sisters have decided to end this ministry.  Sister Martina Stegman will be moving on to work at other Renewal Centers of the Dominicans of Peace.  We thank the Dominicans for the years they offered this resource.  We appreciate all the ways Sister Martina served through Liebenhaus and through her involvement with the Rush County Parishes.  May God bless her new venture abundantly.

►Father Terrance Klein, who grew up in Ellinwood and was ordained there, will be celebrating twenty-five years of priesthood this coming July 12th, at 3:00pm at Saint Joseph Church, Ellinwood.  He asked that I pass on his invitation to join him at that time to all the priests of the Diocese.  As he said, While I cannot presume upon their presence at the celebration, I would be honored by, and grateful for, their attendance.

Father Klein is a priest of the Diocese of Columbus and associate professor of theology at Fordham University.  He was ordained for the Diocese of Dodge City by Bishop Schlarman on 14 July 1984.  After serving in a number of capacities in the Diocese of Dodge City, he eventually was assigned to the Pontifical College Josephinum.  It was there that he transferred to the Diocese of Columbus.
