*Pastoral Ministry Formation Certificate in Youth Ministry seeks to help those who minister to youth specifically and those who minister indirectly understand the components necessary to develop a comprehensive ministry to meet the spiritual, catechetical and social needs of our youth.

Following the Parkland tragedy, teenagers caught the attentions of the nation.  What if they caught the attention of the Church?  It is said that teenagers are the most underutilized, underestimated and under challenged people in the Church.

The certificate forms adults in missionary discipleship to engage the gift of our teenagers in our Church.

The certificate unpacks the U.S. Bishop’s document:  “Renewing the Vision:  A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry”, and Pastoral Juvenil Hispana.

Salina Diocesan Administrator Fr. Frank Coady and Dodge City Bishop John Brungardt encourage every parish to have one or more parishioners prepared with a Youth Ministry Certificate so that they may support and encourage our youth in their unfolding discipleship.

THEO 4881 Art and Environment (1 hour college course)

Instructor:  Fr. Frank Coady

A liturgical environment that celebrates the awe of God’s presence and saving deeds cannot be satisfied with anything less than beautiful. The beauty is related to the holy.

This course gives all involved with Liturgy knowledge of the sacraments, the Catholic rites, the Liturgical Year, and the faithful’s devotional life in order to equip them to create a sacred environment in which the divine-human encounter can most readily occur. The goal is to care for all the elements of worship, ensuring that the total environment is clean, appropriate, authentic, beautiful and accessible. The course will present the Liturgical Documents as they pertain to sacraments and other rites, environment, liturgical space, church appointments and the sacristy.

*This course is one of the one hour courses needed to obtain the Diocesan Certification in Liturgical Ministry.

Class Times: Sept. 5, 12, 19, Oct. 10   Wednesday evenings - 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Location: Interactive Television Sites throughout Dodge City and Salina Dioceses

Cost: 1 hr. course for college credit - $50.00*
1 hr. course for personal enrichment - $25.00*
(price quotes do not include books)

*Formation in Liturgy welcomes all involved in liturgical ministry.  Those serving the liturgy of the Church need to have an understanding of the liturgy, an appreciation of particular ministries and their relationship to other ministries. Salina Diocesan Administrator Fr. Frank Coady and Dodge City Bishop John Brungardt encourage every parish to have one or more parishioners prepared with a Liturgy Certificate so they serve the parish as a resource for the source and summit of the life of the parish, the Liturgy.

THEO 4881 Vocations – God Calling Through Others for Others

Instructor:  Fr. Juan Salas

All Christians have the same vocation:  the baptismal vocation and each of us share in the priesthood of believers.  Therefore, the ministerial priesthood, like the life of the non-ordained “religious,” is for the Church what the Church is for the world at large. What is of greatest importance in living our vocation is the generosity with which we live it.  Every Christian is a masterwork of God’s design and called to holiness. Many do not appreciate their vocation, the mission to express and incarnate the Gospel in the world. How do we convey to young people the need to seek the will of God in their life choices, particularly in responding to God’s call to priesthood, religious life, marriage, single life? This class aims at helping one another listen as God calls.

Class Times:  Sept. 26, Oct. 3, 17, 24  Wednesday evenings:  6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Location:  Interactive Television Sites throughout Dodge City Diocese

THEO 4881 Vocaciones – Dios llama por medio de otros para otros

 Instructor: Padre Juan Salas
