Does my parish expect enough from the people it serves? In a live Q and A I answered questions about stewardship and one of the questions I received was "Do we not expect enough from our parishioners". I answered the question by sharing that some sort of document could be drafted laying out what parishioners can expect from their parish and what what the parish expects from parishioners. That all office staff and a pastor need to do it draft the document and put it in place following a model outlined in the book Growing An Engaged Church.
While at the International Catholic Stewardship Conference in Orlando Florida I sat in on a session about parish covenants and found that real parishes are using this idea to make a difference in the life and lives of the people they serve.
