Adorers of the Blood of Christ

celebrate 60th anniversary of profession

On Sunday, May 23, three Adorers of the Blood of Christ who had ministered in the Diocese of Dodge City  celebrated the 60th  anniversary of their first profession at the Wichita Center in Wichita.
Sisters Rose Therese Bahr, Margaret Knoeber and Anacleta Schuette made their first profession as Adorers of the Blood of Christ on July 1, 1940 at the then Wichita Province. Sister Rose Therese Bahr, ASC, was born in Great Bend. She entered the Adorers of the Blood of Christ in 1948 in Wichita, made her first profession of vows in 1950 and her final profession in 1955. Sister Rose Therese received her RN from St. Francis School of Nursing in Wichita, a Bachelor and Master Degree in Nursing from Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and a PhD from St. Louis University in St. Louis.
Sister Rose Therese began her nursing ministry in Carlsbad, NM, and then served as Director of Nursing in Enid, OK. In 1967 she returned to Wichita as the Academic Dean and Assistant Professor of Education at Sacred Heart College. From 1970 to 1984 she ministered as Nurse Educator at the University of Kansas, first as the Director of Graduate Admissions, then Professor of Nursing. After serving in ASC Provincial Leadership for four years, she served as a Professor of Nursing at Newman University until 2001. Up until 2009 she was involved in grant writing and fundraising for the Center for Health and Wellness and The Lord’s Diner in Wichita.
Sister continues to serve as a Board Member for several organizations including Pure & Simple Health Education, Inc.; Guadalupe Clinic, Inc.; The Lord’s Diner, Inc.; Newman University; and The Wichita Diocesan St. Katherine Drexel School Fund.
Sister Margaret Knoeber, ASC, was born on a farm near Spearville. She attended St. John Baptist Parish School, Spearville, and Sacred Heart Academy, Wichita. She entered the Adorers of the Blood of Christ in 1948, made her first profession in 1950 and final profession in 1955.  Sister received her Bachelor’s Degree from Kansas Newman College and her PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Notre Dame and attended the Religious Leaders Program there.  She also did post-doctoral research at Notre Dame and at Boston University.  
Sister Margaret’s first 10 years of ministry were spent as a teacher and choir director in elementary schools in Kansas.  She was a professor of chemistry, alumni director and director of the Diocese of Dodge City Pastoral Ministry program at Newman University.  She served in provincial leadership and recently completed her work as the archivist for the US Region of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ.  She is currently living mission in later life at the Wichita Center.
Sister Anacleta Schuette, ASC was born in Spearville. She entered the Adorers of the Blood of Christ in 1948, made her first profession in 1950 and permanent profession in 1955. Sister received a BS in Education from Sacred Heart College in Wichita and an MS in Administration from St. Mary College in Xavier.
Sister Anacleta spent the majority of her ministry years as teacher and principal in elementary schools in Kansas.  She also served the ASC Community as Formation Director and as secretary to the then Provincial Council in Wichita.  Her last years in ministry were as Diocesan Mission Director for the Wichita Diocese.  
Sister Anacleta in currently living mission in later life at the Wichita Center.
